**Chapter 2**

As I lay in the hospital bed, trying to make sense of the chaos that had become my life, the news host's voice blared from the television, filling the sterile room with urgency.

"Breaking news: Archaeologists have made a stunning discovery regarding the demise of the ancient Minoan civilization. Recent tests suggest that the catastrophic event may have been caused by either a volcanic eruption or a meteor impact, as evidence of a massive explosion has been uncovered."

I couldn't help but let out a wistful sigh. How I wished my grandfather were still alive to hear this. He had always been fascinated by the Minoan era, pouring over dusty tomes and deciphering ancient artifacts with a gleam in his eye. If anyone could unravel the mysteries of the past, it was him.

But alas, he was gone, leaving behind a legacy of curiosity and a family steeped in the traditions of archaeology. My parents, my grandparents, even my great-grandfather before them – they had all dedicated their lives to uncovering the secrets of lost civilizations, especially the enigmatic Minoans.

I couldn't help but chuckle to myself as I remembered the incredulous looks on their faces when I announced my decision to major in mass communication instead of following in their footsteps. It was as if I had committed a cardinal sin, forsaking our family's sacred duty in pursuit of a frivolous career.

But deep down, I knew my passion lay elsewhere. While my family delved into the depths of history, I yearned to explore the stories of the present – to uncover the truths hidden behind the facades of society, to give voice to the voiceless, and to shine a light on the darkest corners of human existence.

Lost in my thoughts, my fingers brushed against the pendant that hung around my neck – a simple yet striking necklace that had been passed down through generations of my family. It was my great-grandfather who had discovered it buried beneath the ruins of an ancient Minoan settlement, its intricate carvings hinting at a forgotten past.

As I traced the delicate lines of the pendant with my fingertips, I couldn't help but wonder about its origins. What stories did it hold? What secrets did it conceal? And most importantly, what connection did it have to the enigmatic civilization that had captured the imagination of my family for generations?

Before I could dwell any further on these questions, the door creaked open, and a figure stepped into the room. My heart skipped a beat as I recognized the unmistakable presence of the demon who had turned my world upside down.

He approached the bed with an air of casual indifference, dropping a bottle of pills onto the bedside table with a careless flick of his wrist.

"Here," he muttered, his voice dripping with disdain. "It seems your human healers prescribed this for you."

I stared at the pills in disbelief, my mind reeling with questions. How did he know about my medication? And more importantly, why was he here?

But before I could voice my concerns, he turned on his heel and strode out of the room, leaving me alone once again with nothing but unanswered questions and a growing sense of unease.

As I reached for the bottle of pills, my fingers brushed against the pendant once more, sending a shiver down my spine. Something told me that this necklace held the key to unlocking the mysteries of my family's past – and perhaps even the secrets of the ancient Minoans themselves.
