.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.evelyn hurried back to the hotel, realising she had lost track of time, on top of sleeping in. as she entered, max came rushing towards her with a mix of frustration and concern.
"ev, are you kidding me? we're supposed to leave in 15 minutes!" max exclaimed, glancing at her watch.
the singer's eyes widened, and she immediately started gathering her belongings. "i completely lost track of time. i'm sorry, i max!"
max crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. "lost track of time doing what, exactly?"
evelyn hesitated, then sighed. "i accidentally fell asleep at sam's place."
the redhead's eyes widened in surprise. "what the hell? we have a gig!"
in the midst of the chaos, max threw a spare outfit at the girl. "get changed quickly. you're lucky we have makeup artists today."
max's frustration turned into curiosity as she watched evelyn hurriedly change into the outfit she threw at her. "seriously, though, what were you doing at sam's place that you ended up sleeping over?"
evelyn, while fixing up her shirt, tried to explain with a couple missed details, "we just... talked. it got late, and i didn't want to drive back, so i stayed the night. it wasn't planned."
the drummer's eyes narrowed, sensing there was more to the story. "just talked?"
the brunette sighed, realising she couldn't escape max's scrutiny. "it's complicated. we talked about old times, feelings, and stuff. i didn't plan on it turning into a sleepover, trust me."
max shook her head, disbelief etched on her face. "you're a mess girl. we've got to get going. save the drama for later, and don't let it mess up your performance."
they rushed to the car, and the singer tried everything to distract herself from the previous night.
as they arrived at the venue, the hustle and bustle of the concert setting greeted them. makeup artists hovered around, brushes in hand, ready to transform the girl for the stage. max eyed evelyn with curiosity, "so, what's the deal with sam? did you guys make up?"
evelyn sighed, "not really. we had some moments where it felt like we were making progress. she even stopped insulting me for a while, but then it got awkward. and this morning, she messaged me like nothing happened."
max raised an eyebrow, suspicion written all over her face. "something else happened, didn't it?"
their stylists finished the makeup, and they moved to get mic'd up and finalise their ear monitor mixes. the brunette halted before admitting, "yeah, i kinda broke down, and she let me cry on her."
max's eyes widened in surprise. "what? you guys cuddled?"
"no! not like that...i mean...shit," evelyn took a deep breath, explaining the emotional rollercoaster she experienced at sam's place the night before. max listened attentively, occasionally nodding as the girl detailed the moments of vulnerability and the surprising solace she found in sam's presence.
max's eyes softened, and she responded, "ev, you never told me it got that deep. are you sure you're okay?"
evelyn managed a small smile, appreciating max's concern. "yeah, i think so. it's just... complicated. i don't even know where we stand now."
as their makeup was completed, the conversation shifted to the upcoming gig. they headed over to get mic'd up and finalise their ear monitor mixes. max couldn't shake off the intrigue. "so, are you planning to talk to sam again about all this?"
