CHAPTER 35: LOOKING AFTER MY DAD WHILE HE'S SICK

*Bzzz* *Bzzz* *Bzzz*

After I got changed, my phone is vibrating.

My Phone 📱

MINA: Hey girl, me and the others are going to the pool, do you want to come? 

EIJIRO: Yeah, it would be really fun if you showed up

ME: Sorry, I can't. My dad is really sick and Hawks is currently working so I am going to be looking after him today...

MINA: Oh, ok. Hope he feels better soon

EIJIRO: Ok pebble. I will tell Todoroki too

ME: Thanks guys. Tell the others that I can't come

MINA: Will do

EIJIRO: We will try and visit ok

ME: Ok, see you soon

I put my phone down and I made some breakfast before I went to check up on my dad.

After I had my breakfast, I went upstairs as I went towards my dad's room. I knocked on his door while I was holding a glass of water. "Come in" my dad said, grudgingly. I opened the door and put the glass of water on his bedside table and put my hand on his forehead. 'He is definitely sick, even my hand is sweltering' I thought to myself. 

I grabbed a cloth and ran it underneath some cold water. I came back into his room and placed the cloth on his forehead. Some steam came off from underneath the cloth as my dad's eyes blinked open.

"You are definitely sick. Hey dad, can you tell me what hurts?" I asked. "All of my muscles are really weak and my head hurts a little" my dad said as he started to shiver.

"Do you want some water?" I asked as he nodded his head a little. I was helping him up a little and I moved his pillow up a bit so he can sit up comfortably. I held out the glass of water for him as he was drinking out of the glass.

After a few seconds, he pulled away and resting his head on the pillow.

"It looks like you have the flu. I think that your quirk is making it a lot worse than normal though since you can't regulate your normal temperature" I said as he just groaned in response.

I put my hand down to one side but I winced in pain as some pressure was put onto my burnt hand. "I'm going to get some medicine that will help" I said. "Thanks little mouse" my dad said.

Once the skin cooled off after putting cold water onto it, I got some bandages from the cabinet and wrapped my hand. Also, I got some cold medicine and ibuprofen.

I grabbed a water bottle with a straw and filled it up with some water and I dropped the tablet into the water. I watched the tablet started to fizz and sent orange bubbles to the top of the bottle. I stirred the medicated water with a spoon, making the water orange and put the lid on it.

Then I went back into his room. "Careful, it's fizzy so don't drink it all at once, ok" I said as he was drinking from the bottle. After a few gulps, my dad tapped on my knee and I put the bottle on the bedside table.

"Can you walk or do I need to carry you?" I asked as I carefully took off the wet cloth and setting it on the end of the bed.

He pushed himself up, then his knees buckled a little bit but I was really quick to wrap his arm around me, allowing him to use me as his walking stick. I was leading him to the next available room and I helped him lay down on the bed.

I helped him pull back the comforter and as soon as his head it the pillow, he was back to being asleep as he was snoring a little. I smiled a little as he is sound asleep, happy that it wasn't that difficult for him to get really comfortable. 

I walked into his room, pulled off the bedsheets and the blankets off his bed and putting them into a pile.

I picked up the pile and made it to the laundry room that was next to the kitchen and I put his bedsheets into the washing machine and started it. Then my phone suddenly went off from the counter and it was Hawks and my dad's secretary calling and I answered it immediately.

"Hi Ellie, how are you and your dad?" she said. "Well, I'm fine and usually I'm normally awake before 8AM but unfortunately, it isn't for good reasons" I said. "What happened?" she asked.

I sighed a little. "Well, my dad woke up today with a pretty severe cold and he is burning up as well" I said.

"I hope that he will get better soon!" she said. "He will but he won't be coming in at all today" I said. "Tell him that I hope he will feel better" she said.

"I will and thanks. Can you tell Hawks to bring some chicken when he comes home for the two of us tonight" I said. "Of course Ellie" she said.

I hung up the call. 'Might as well get through my dad's emails and get his paperwork sorted and then I got to clean Hawks' room' I thought to myself as I entered my dad's office. While I was sorting that out, I had a phone call and it was Natsuo calling.

"Hey Ellie, how are you?" Natsuo said. "I'm fine but my dad isn't" I said. "What happened to Touya?" he asked. "He has a really bad flu that caused him to burn up" I said as I still sorting out the emails. "Do you want me and my mom to come over?" he asked. "Yeah, that would be great, thanks" I said. "See you soon" Natsuo said. "Yeah, see you soon" I said.

<TIME SKIP A LITTLE>

When my dad woke up again later in the day, I had some soup waiting for him when I brought it up to him. He already seemed a little better since he took the medicine and his fever went down a lot. His muscles were still sore and aching and after the next round of medicine, he will be much better.

Once the warm soup had filled his empty stomach, he was feeling more like himself. And he even sat up on his own. Then my dad looked at my hand and frowned a little. "What happened to your hand little mouse?" he asked. "Well..." I started to say.

He tilted his head a little to the side as I rubbed the back of my neck. "This morning, when I woke up and I noticed that you were burning up when I entered your room. I put my hand onto your forehead to check to see how bad it is and it was...really hot" I said.

HIs eyes widened a little. "I am so sorry, little mouse. You looked after me instead of hanging out with your friends" he said. "Don't worry about it, it's not your fault. Anyway, I probably spend time with them during training camp anyway" I said as he nodded a little.

<TIME SKIP>

After my dad woke up again, he raised his arms up in the air, slightly shocked. "Hey...my muscles don't ache anymore!" he said. "That's good to hear dad" I said.

"Thank you for taking care of me little mouse" he said. "Don't worry about it. Also, you got a couple days off work too" I said. "Thanks little mouse. Now, I just need to sort out all of the paperwork and check my emails too" my dad said. "Already sorted so don't worry about it" I said. "Ok then, thanks little mouse" he said. "Anytime dad" I said.
