after the wedding

the wedding ends.

we make it through the crowd of people who congradulate us and wish us a happy marrige.as soon as we escape outside,he picks me up and spins me around.it seems as if he is shining like the sun.once he puts me down,he sees that i am diatracted.

"is something wrong?"

"no,everything is perfect.oh,wait.actually thease heels are pretty uncomfortble."

i say with a light laugh.not the truth,but not a lie.

"are you sure?"

"yes."

then he kisses me again.i don7t know how long we stayed there like that.

when we finally pull apart,i catch nikolai's pained face in  the corner of my eye.

"mal,let's go home."

"okay."

after dinner,we cjange into more comfterble clothes and take a walk.

"so...what are we going to do tonight?"

he says while blushing.

of course.it's tradition.

but...

"i don't think i'm ready yet.but will you sleep with metonight?"

"of course."

i can't tell if his voice is relieved or dissapointed.

That night i sunk in to my bed.mal comes into my room.he slowly eases off his shirt.i cansee his lean muscle.he comes into bed with me.i touch his chest.

"i love you alina."

i snuggle into him,and he wraps his strong arms around me.

i catch sight of his tattoo curling around his shoulder.

he has.and he's pierced my heart so truly that i could never pull it out.

"what do you want to do now?"

he asks.

"it feels crazy that nobody is trying to murder me or take you away anymore."

"i'll protect you."

can you protect me from my own traitorous heart?

his eyes flutter shut.
