Hue #6

Mirn’s POV

“Why are you baking here instead of baking in your house?”

“Don’t talk to me. I am in my rebellious mode,” sabi ko sabay irap tapos ito namang si Kuya River na kaibigan niya ay basta na lang kumuha ng strawberry. “Hey! Stop eating that! Ilalagay ko ‘yan sa strawberry shortcake ko.”

“Cool,” he commented sabay nguya. “Dito na tayo kumain, Hunter. Gusto ko ng strawberry shortcake.”

“No way,” umiling ako sabay tago ng strawberry. “Don’t disturb me, okay?”

“Did you not go to school?” Kuya Hunter.

“Yeah.” Tumango ako. “Told you, I am in my rebellious mode,” dagdag ko. “This is because they didn’t allow me to fly to Singapore to watch the F1. Like, duh!”

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I tried sneaking out but couldn’t because of the bodyguards outside and it would just probably make my parents even more mad at me.

“They didn’t allow me ‘cause there’s a lot of people daw there…and they want me safe,” I sighed. “Sino na naman ba ang kaaway ng pamilya natin?”

“Lagi naman kayong may kaaway,” hirit ni River. “Bakit hindi ka na lang tumakas? Want me to help you?”

“River,” saway ni Kuya Hunter. “Well, just continue what you’re doing.”

“Uh, lame. Aren’t you going to help me?” I pouted. “Please, how about you come to Singapore to watch F1?”

“Pass,” Kuya Hunter said.

“Not into cars so no,” Kuya River shrugged. “But I can help you sneak out—ouch!”

I continued baking while they went to the bar counter. It’s not like I care.

After some time, my phone started ringing. I washed my hands before picking it up then waited for the oven to get the work done.

“I cannot come. Sorry,” bungad ko na agad kay Kuya Gavion. “I’ll just pay for the ticket but installment, okay? I am also broke.”

“Huh?” Feeling ko tumaas ang kilay niya. “What do you mean by that? Don’t you want to see us race?"

“As much as I want to, they don’t want me to do go. There’s some family issues going on. Well, it’s not exactly ours. You know naman na maraming kaaway ang pamilya namin, right? So, they just want me safe.” I sighed.

“I see. But what if you go with someone you know? Like Ash? I bought two tickets for the both of you.”

“Not gonna happen. Hindi rin kasi siya papayagan ng Ate niya.” Sumandal ako sa kitchen top habang hinihintay pa rin ang oven na matapos. “So sad.”

He chuckled.

“What? You’re making fun of me.”

“Not really. I just imagine you being so cute right now.”

I rolled my eyes but I felt my face heated. I didn’t know when it started but I just realized that Gavion can make me blush—although, still not enough to make my heart flutter.
