~ Chapter Fourteen ~

2 hours of waiting at the hospital. Not knowing anything. Madi can't help but think the worst but she knows she has to stay strong for Leo and the baby. They finally let Madi go in to see him while one of the nurses looks after Leo so Lando & Madi can have some alone time. She walks in and sees Lando laying in the bed with bandages everywhere he's burnt and it breaks her heart seeing him in this state. From the corner of his eye, Lando sees Madi enter the room. Despite the pain and exhaustion, a small smile tugs at his lips when he sees her. His voice barely more than a hoarse whisper, he manages, "Hey, love. You made it" he says. "I'm so glad you're alive..." she says while walking over to him and softly kissing his head. She can't help but cry as she kisses his head. Lando opens his eyes, his heart breaking at the sight of Madi's tears. Ignoring the pain that rages within him, he reaches out to wipe the tears from her face. "I'm okay, love. I'm okay" he reassures her. she wipes some of her own tears away and looks at him "I thought I lost you... everything happened so quickly... one second you were on track and then next second you were on the side and the car was in flames... I didn't think you were gonna walk out of there... I didn't think I would ever see you again... I thought I would have to raise Leo & our baby on my own..." she says. "I know, love. And I'm sorry. I never meant to put you through that" Lando's voice cracks as he speaks, the pain in his heart mirroring the physical pain he is in. "It wasn't your fault, baby... it was fucking Max's. he was the one that pushed you off the track... he didn't win though... he got disqualified from the race. he's not gonna get away with this easily" she says. She made multiple complaints about the situation and actually got Max disqualified. It was clear that he pushed Lando off the track and caused the crash. "I know, but it still hurts. I just want you and our family to be safe, Madi" he says. "It's okay, baby... just relax. I can't imagine the pain you must be in at the moment... it's definitely worse than the pain of childbirth and i know that for a fact" she says. It isn't worse than childbirth but it is pretty close. Lando groans softly as he shifts slightly, wincing in pain. "You're right, love. It's bad. But I'm here now, and I'll do whatever it takes to make sure you and our family are taken care of" he says. She can't help but smile at the fact that he's still willing to help looking after Leo even in this state. He is the best dad in the world. "you're lucky that you had fireproofs on or else this could have been a lot worse for you..." she says. "Yeah, I know. And I'm grateful for that. I owe them my life" he says while trying to hold her hand but wincing in pain. "Have they not given you any drugs yet?" she asks with tons of concern. "Not yet. It probably will feel way better when I have some painkillers" he says. They just have to hope. She smiles and looks down to his lips "you're not hurting too much for me not to kiss you, are you?" she asks. "Madi, you're killing me" He says with a chuckle, despite the pain. "Kiss me" he adds to which Madi responds by softly pressing her lips onto his. "I love you so much, Mads" he says once they separate their lips. "I love you too, Lan" she says before feeling a violent kick. "I think baby wants to talk to you" she says. He slowly moves his hand to her bump and moves it around slightly. "Hey, little one. It's your daddy again. Can you tell your mummy to stop worrying about me because of the crash? Also, are you a boy or a girl? We don't know yet, but we're so excited to find out soon. We can't wait to meet you and hold you in our arms" he says. Madi's heart melts as she watches him talk to her baby; something he did the whole way through her pregnancy with Leo. "well... I asked the doctors here if I can have my first ultrasound for our baby tomorrow while you're here and they said yes" she says which makes Lando's face immediately light up. "Really?! That's amazing, Madi! I can't wait to see our little one for the first time. It's going to be such a special moment" He says, his eyes shining with excitement. "My heart is probably gonna melt when I see our baby on the screen" she says before hearing the nurse walk in with Leo.

Madi immediately runs to Leo and gets down on her knees to hug him "daddy's okay, baby boy. daddy's okay" she says while hugging their child. Lando smiles as he sees Leo walk over to his bed "hey buddy" he says as Madi puts him on the bed next to Lando. "Be careful, Leo. Daddy has a lot of ouchies" she says. Lando couldn't care less about how much pain he is in as he pulls Leo onto his lap despite the insane pain he is in from it. She sits in the chair next to Lando but it is insanely uncomfortable which does not go down well with Madi due to her being pregnant. She gets up and starts searching for a pillow in the room but can't find anything. "how the fuck did they think it was okay to give a fucking pregnant woman and fucking uncomfortable fucking chair like that" she says and Lando covers Leo's ears as she starts swearing uncontrollably while having a pregnancy mood swing "fuck my fucking life. I'm gonna fucking burn this place to the ground if I don't get a comfy chair or pillow in the next five fucking minutes" she says while still searching. Lando bites his bottom lip, trying not to laugh at her outburst. He knows she's just dealing with the discomfort and hormones but he also finds it hilarious. she looks over and Lando and gives him a death stare "you fucking laugh and I swear to fucking god I will fucking kill you" she says. "I'm not laughing at you, I'm trying not to laugh with you. It's just...you have a way with words" He chuckles softly, still unable to resist her fiery attitude. She crosses her arms and looks at him "shut. the. fuck. up." she says. "Okay, okay. I'll be quiet. Just...find that pillow or something, yeah?" He says while still holding Leo close. "no fucking shit sherlock. that's what I'm trying to fucking look for. there's gotta be some sort of fucking spare pillow in here" she says. Lando leans back into his bed and looks at her "babe.. it's just a chair.." he says and she immediately death stares him again. "just a fucking chair???? I'm fucking pregnant and that chair isn't fucking helping the back pain I already have!!!! I shouldn't be having this much back pain at 4 months pregnant but here we fucking are" she says. Lando looks at her, his eyes filled with concern. He knows how much discomfort she must be in and feels terrible that he can't do more to help her "I'm sorry, love. I'll see if I can find a pillow for you". "no I will just fucking deal with it. It's fine. there's obviously no fucking pillow in here and obviously this hospital wants this pregnant woman to have a fucking breakdown while her boyfriend is basically burnt all over his fucking body. I'm just fucking tired. I'm fucking tired of this shit. I feel like I'm fucking falling apart" she says while having another mood swing and going from being angry to being basically depressed. Lando feels his heart ache for her, wanting nothing more than to take all of her pain and suffering away "Honey, please don't feel like that. I know it's been a long day, but we're going to get through this" he says. "I feel horrible now because I feel like I'm making everything about me by complaining about being pregnant when you're the one that's just been in a massive crash and been burnt over your whole body" she says. "Baby, it's okay. You're not making it about you. I know how much this pregnancy has been affecting you, and I'm here for you." He says. "I just feel like shit. And this chair is still so fucking uncomfortable!!!!!" she screams. "Shh...breathe, love. I'll find that pillow for you. Just relax and try to calm down" He places a comforting hand on her shoulder, wanting to ease her pain in any way he can. "what's the fucking point. I'm just a fucking depressed and annoying cow. I can't handle being pregnant for five fucking minutes" she says. "Oh, sweetheart, you're anything but annoying or a cow. And you're not handling this pregnancy alone. We're in it together. Remember how we promised to support each other through thick and thin? This is where that promise comes into play" he says as he holds her hand with her promise ring as he says 'that promise'. The baby isn't getting any calmer and continues to kick her and ends up kicking her bladder which instantly makes her need to go to the bathroom. She's been like this nonstop since their baby has started kicking.
