IN WHICH the boy, who never entertained the idea of love yet mastered the art of manipulation and charm, learned the art of romance in order to win over a curse in its human form, Celeste St. Claire. The only being who possessed his utmost desire: immortality. The plan was solid, but the subject was a thorn in the side. Perhaps Tom Riddle would need a lot more than seven prayers and plenty more patience.

For someone who despised the idea of romance completely, it was ludicrous to be seen being lectured by one's companions about how to persuade a girl into falling in love with him. He was a prodigy in manipulation and charm. Why would he need bouquets and letters instead? There was no difference.

Everyone poses as a lovesick fool towards one another. They'd pose with lines from tacky poetry books, flowers that would rot and die, and promises that're as fleeting as life. By the end, it would all be for naught. All of it fell under deception as these fools believed love to be undying and true.

The art of persuasion is to tell someone something factual to change their perspective about a particular matter. This is often what lovesick fools argue to be what they're doing, when truly, it all fell under the art of manipulation. From their flowers to their sickening poetries—all of it was deception that played with emotions, swaying parties in laughable dances, tripping and plummeting to the floor, catching each other until they got bored of the same old steps.

Everyone was a fool. And now he was going to learn how to be one. For a girl who possessed his desires, his goals, his dreams. For a girl so difficult who wouldn't even glance at a fool who speaks of love in front of her face as if it were a bible sermon.

Yes, he was going to learn, and learn he would: the distinction of persuasion and manipulation.
