Ashley's kanto adventure

Squad goals

Ashley and her Machop walk along a path and hears some bushes rustling in the background. She sends out her Bulbasaur.

A quintet of Squirtle wearing sunglasses appears out of the bushes, looking serious as ever. Ashley checks her Pokédex for details on the Squirtle.

She orders Bulbasaur to use a Razor Leaf on them, but one of the Squirtle takes the hit for the one that seems to be the leader. A battle ensues, but Officer Jenny's arrival scares the Squirtle away.

At the police station, Jenny explains that the group of Squirtle are called the Squirtle Squad. She feels sympathy for them, as they were abandoned by their Trainers, and all they do is run wild and play pranks on everyone.

Meanwhile, while Jenny tells the pair about the Squirtle Squad, one of the activities the Squirtle Squad are doing is stealing fruit from a fruit seller.

Elsewhere, Ashley is fishing while Machop and Bulbasaur lie on the riverbank. One of the Squirtle Squad members pops up and soaks them with a Water Gun. Ashley, tired of the Squirtle Squad's antics, confronts the Squirtle when it jumps out of the water.

Bulbasaur charges to attack, but the Squirtle withdraws into its shell and tackles him, knocking Bulbasaur into the water, where it is attacked by a wild Goldeen. Ashley recalls her Bulbasaur back.

"Want to give this Squirtle a battle it won't forget, buddy?" She asked as Machop gave her an eager nod and stepped in front of her and got into a fighting stance, staring at the Squirtle.

"Now Machop, start off with a Focus Blast and send it slamming into a tree!" Ashley demanded Machop, who did as he was told. He puts his hands together in front of him and creates a light blue ball of energy. He then fires the large orb at the Squirtle, sending the Squirtle against a tree with a thud.

Squirtle glares at the Fighting-type and releases a spiral of water from its mouth at Machop that tells Ashley it's firing Water Gun. "Dodge it Machop and give it a Karate Chop!" She demanded the Fighting-type, who gave himself a slight jump above Squirtle and slammed his hand in a chopping position and slammed it hard against Squirtle's head, knocking out the Water-type.

Ashley grinned and threw out a Poké Ball, letting the red and white sphere land directly on the unconscious Squirtle, capturing it in a red glowing light and sucking it inside. It shook, once, twice, and the third time as the ball clicked.

Ashley proceeded to retrieve her Squirtle's Poké Ball. She celebrates by holding her Poké Ball in the air, extremely thrilled over her latest capture. As nightfall arrives, Ashley sets up camp and calls out her Growlithe for the night.

She is sitting up in her sleeping bag, while holding her Squirtle's Poké Ball in her hand. She is in deep thought, trying hard to come up with a strategy for her next gym battle in Vermilion City.

The next morning, as Ashley and her Machop prepare to resume their journey, Ashley realizes that the Vermilion city's gym leader is a specialist in Electric-types. So, she is going to need her Bulbasaur and Clefairy for this battle.
