3 YEARS LATER
Jess whistled to get the girls attention as they ran out from the shrubbery. Their eyes were set on the pig as they ran out but their heads snapped up when Jess whistled. Jess clicked her clicker and whistled again, "Eyes on me!"
She had all of their attention- except for Blue. Even after three years Blue really only listened to Owen. Owen whistled and clicked his clicker, "Blue!"
Blue snarled but her eyes shifted to Owen and Jess smiled briefly, "Good girl!"
Echo playfully snapped at Delta and they both growled at each other as Jess narrowed her eyes on the two and clicked her clicker, "Echo knock it off!"
Echo refocused but Delta just looked everywhere besides her trainers. Owen sighed as he narrowed his eyes on her, "Delta! Lock it up!"
Her eyes snapped back to Owen as she waited for another order. Owen and Jess were on the same page as he shouted, "And- we're moving!"
Jess and Owen each held a hand in front of them as they moved and the girls followed. The girls nipped at one another from behind Blue, who led the group, but they moved with their trainers. This was their best progress in a while and god were Jess and Owen happy. The two reached their destination and Jess reached down and pulled a rat from the bucket. The girls all eyed her as she held it up and called out, "Charlie, here it comes!"
She tossed the rat and Charlie bounced a bit as it came towards her and she caught it in her mouth. Jess smiled at the girl, she'd always had a soft spot for Charlie. Charlie was the baby of the group and had always been the weakest out of the four. She used to cuddle in Jess's lap when she was little and Owen and Jess were doing research. Jess and Owen alternated on tossing the girls treats until they got to Blue. Jess smirked as she passed a rat to Owen, "For our Beta."
Owen rolled his eyes at his blonde haired friend as he held it up and whistled, "Blue! This one's for you."
Blue caught it and swallowed it whole as the girls kept their attention on the two. After three years Jess and Owen were always working in sync. Owen kept his eyes locked on Blue, the girls would follow her, "Hold!"
"Eyes up!"
The girls held positions as they waited for the next order. Jess's heart raced as her and Owen dropped their hands and shouted, "Go!"
The girls bolted towards the end of the pen as Owen and Jess looked at one another in awe. Jess laughed and she threw her arms up and ran into Owens open arms. The other workers cheered at their success as Owen spun her around in a circle. The two laughed as he set Jess down and she pressed a kiss to his scruffy cheek, "We actually did it!"
