Karyotype

I made a karyotype of a zinoid for absolutely no reason last night

Explanations,

As I've said, zinoids reproduce asexually. But usually when this happens, the offspring would be genetically identical to the parent, so all the zinoids would look the same. And since I didn't know that at the time, I found a way around it: MORE CHROMOSOMES :)

Basically they have an extra set of chromosomes, including two extra X chromosomes. The two spare X's and the extra 46 are "inactive," or not shown in the zinoid's phenotype regardless of those chromosomes' genotypes. However the two sets of chromosomes can join together with egg and sperm and go through meiosis like in sexual reproduction. This allows offspring to be genetically different than their parents, with randomly activated and deactivated chromosomes, even if they still have the same genes.

This still makes the gene pool within specific bloodlines very limited, so zinoids can actually still reproduce sexually. It's just very rarely done.
