It all happened so fast.

Peleus was nice and distracted by my stupid dance but then went and I fucked up by tripping on my own foot, falling so hard I startled Malcolm. I just didn't expect him to squeak loudly as he dropped the box on his foot, drawing the attention away from me, the distraction, to Malcolm who was occupied in getting his foot out from under a 20lb box. Peleus is usually a friendly dragon, he loves campers and is good about determining if someone is an enemy or ally. But when it comes to wintertime, and all the summer campers have left, he gets into a bad mood that basically lasts until spring rolls around.

I don't know if it's because he's cold-blooded, or if he's just one of those...serpents who hates winter solely because it's chilly. But I guess that's why during the off season, feeding Peleus became a two person job, so one's life isn't at risk while the other dances to give Peleus for a little bit of summer happiness. I think that all goes down the drain when you ask an uncoordinated clumsy kid to dance in the cold.

Malcolm and I had no chance to react as Peleus growled and snapped. I jumped so hard that in my process of trying to get off the ground, I slipped again, getting a lovely mouthful of dirt and frost. I almost wished I had my dad's speed so I could somehow intervene in what was about to happen.

Time slowed as I just watched as Peleus shot out at Malcolm, mouth opened. I my eyes widened as I watched Peleus dive at Malcolm's free leg clamping down with a sickening crunch, Malcolm's scream shattered my soul and shook me out of my shock. I did a very stupid thing as I jumped up and lunged towards Malcolm, I pushed the box off his leg, opening it and throwing some gross leftovers in another direction.

Peleus, easily distracted like most demigods at this camp, darted off and I took this chance to pull Malcolm away, throwing off my jacket in hopes to stop the excessive bleeding from his partially bitten off leg. Sure it was freezing but I'm willing to ruin my ten dollar jacket for something as important as keeping the blood inside Malcolm's body. I mustered as much strength as I could to lift him up and run across the boarder, straight to the infirmary. Campers gawked and gasped as I ran past them.

"WILL! WILLIAM! WILL HELP!" I shouted, the adrenaline was wearing off and I was starting to feel the weight of a person in my arms.

A confused teen doctor stuck his head out the door just to open his mouth in shock at the sight of Malcolm in my arms, bleeding out. "Holy Zeus! What happened, Connor?!" Will shrieked as he rushed me in, directing me to a sectioned off cot in the corner. Will was frantically running around, grabbing all the medical supplies he could as I told him a quick rundown of the events that happened earlier.

Will had sent out one of his siblings to grab Chiron. My jacket at this point was toast but Will assigned me to make sure Malcolm stays conscious. I've been using all of my knowledge of math to ask him questions he can easily answer, anything to keep him awake.

Gods, how did I let this happen. One second we were just doing some dumbass chores and next thing I knew, Malcolm got attacked by a fucking dragon. Shit, this is all my fault, I'm the one that tripped, it should be my leg in Peleus' stomach, well maybe not my leg, I need that to sneak around, maybe a finger or something.

"Connor," Malcolm snapped me out of my head. Even though he was missing half of his leg and bleeding out, he still sounded the same, annoyed with me. "You and I both know 6 x 7 is not 54, at least I hope you know that, anyways, get out of your head." I don't know why this idiot is comforting me when he's the one who got hurt, as if my crumbling mental state was more of a priority than him getting his leg bitten off.

"How am I supposed to get out of my head when Will here is literally stopping you from bleeding out because I let Peleus use your leg as food." He chuckled as I rambled on about how we fed Peleus the wrong thing and that if I had been more careful, we wouldn't be in the infirmary. He just laughed off my remarks and continued telling me over and over that it wasn't my fault.
