I wake up to my alarm, bright and early, all snuggled up in Trevor's arms. I've decided to forgive him, because he felt so sorry it was obviously an accident like he said. Wiggle myself out of his grasp as carefully as possible to not wake him, and then head to the bathroom.

I'm shocked when I see how nasty a bruise the hit left. Quickly I layer on foundation and concealer as thick as I can get away with, and make the executive decision to wear my hair down today. It's long enough to hit my mid-back, so it should cover my cheek well enough.

"Kayla?"

Trevor's awake.

"In the bathroom!"

"Oh...you're sticking with the job?"

I sigh, "We went over this last night, I'm not quitting, I like my job."

"Fine." His mutters barely make it to me, but I guess that's just how it's gonna be for a while.

I'm not ever going to quit my dream job. If he loves me he'll learn to deal with it.

I'm rushing as soon as I get to work.

Running up to Harvey I start filling him in, "Umm, Delvin McGreggor's fighting the subpoena. They filed a motion to dismiss the case based on our lack of evidence."

"Good."

"Good- Wait, what do you mean by good?"

How could dismissing this case be a good thing?! Nancy deserves justice.

"They don't want to hand over the files. You pressed where it hurt. You're looking in the right place. Did you think they wouldn't fight back?"

"Now that you mention it..." I trail off, releasing a breath I didn't realize I was holding till just now.

"Oh! My bad. I keep forgetting you don't actually know anything."

Who pissed in his cereal this morning? Geez. I give him the fakest laugh ever.

"--the idea is you make a move, they make a move. You go back and forth until one of you wins."

"Okay, what if they win the motion and the case gets dismissed?"

The textbooks make this seem a lot easier.

"You're not as good as you think you are."

I follow him down the hallway silently, him drinking his coffee, and me stressing out till a lady steps out of the closest office.

"Harvey! What a coincidence, I was wondering how the pro bono was coming."

"I'm all over it." His response is so nonchalant that I Would've believed him if I weren't the one actually working the case for him.

"That makes me very happy, because if I were to find out that you weren't putting in your full effort, I'd be very upset." Clearly this lady is his boss, or else he wouldn't have even given her the time of day.

"No worries, we're all good."

He walks off, and I immediately try to look busy when she gives me a glance. Feeling like she can see into my soul, I walk off going to busy myself with my- I guess I mean Harvey's- case.

The second I spot Ryan I start calling for him, "Ryan! Ryan, Ryan, Ryan. I need your help!"

I rush over as quickly as I can in these killer heels.

"There's a hearing on my subpoena."

"I've got three cases in front of you, so you're gonna have to wait in line."
