Who I am Today

You went a bit too far and now I finally see
You say that being mean is somehow helping me
You say that you're just being real
But I know that's not how you feel
Cuz maybe you're just jealous that I'm not afraid to be myself
Or maybe you just don't know how to show love to anyone else
But dodging all your bullets made me who I am today
It made me so much stronger than if I'd just run away
Even though I wanted to

I won't be afraid
To wake up and start the day
By singing and drowning out the lies you tell
I gotta say
I know your hate won't go away
So I've learned to ignore you to stay alive and well
But it still hurts sometimes
I'm not gonna lie
I still remember crying every night
I've gotta stay strong
And remember that you're wrong
I'll look for stars when I can't see the light

Cuz dodging all your bullets made me who I am today
It made me so much stronger than if I'd just run away
Even though I wanted to
I knew I had to pull through
And remember that love is true
And now I'm not afraid of you

A/n: this one is about keeping going even when it seems like the bullies are winning. Defiantly being happy when you know they want to see you cry. Although it was meant to have a more hopeful tone, you get the feeling the singing and dancing person in the poem hasn't actually stopped crying at nights. They're just no longer afraid to show the bullies who they really are and stand for what's right.
