Chapter 21: Isobel

Dylan's laying on Stefan's bed on his phone with Elena while Stefan's in the shower. Elena says, "I'm supposed to help build the Miss Mystic float for the Founder's Day Parade. If I don't, I get the wrath of Caroline. But I wanted to check in first." Dylan says, "Stefan's fine. Seems to me like he's going back to his old ways." Elena says, "That's good to hear." Dylan says, "Hey, did Uncle John mention anything to you about my field trip with the history teacher?" Elena says, "No, I've still been avoiding him. Why? What's he up to?" Dylan says, "I don't know, but I'd love it if you could find out for me." Dylan sees Stefan step out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist looking at her curiously. Elena says, "I gotta go. I'm late." Dylan says, "Have fun with the Mystic queen. I know I did." Elena scoffs as she hangs up. Dylan leaves Stefan's bed as she hands him his phone and says, "Elena called. She wanted to check in on you." Dylan walks out the room. Later, Dylan's at the high school and she walks into Alaric's classroom where Alaric, Stefan, and Elena are. Alaric says, "Dylan, thanks for coming." Dylan says, "You said it was important." Dylan looks at everyone's faces and she says, "What's going on?" Alaric says, "I saw Isobel last night." Dylan says, "Isobel's here? In town?" Alaric nods. Dylan says, "Did you ask about Uncle John? Are they working together?" Alaric says, "No." Dylan says, "No, they're not?" Alaric says, "No, I didn't ask." Dylan says, "What about the invention?" Alaric says, "Didn't ask." Dylans says, "Does she know about the tomb of vampires?" Alaric says, "I don't know." Dylan says, "Did words completely escape you?" Alaric says, "No, I was a little too distracted by my dead vampire wife to ask any questions." Dylan says, "What did she want?" Elena says, "She wants to see me, Dylan." Stefan says, "Alaric is supposed to arrange a meeting. We don't know why or what she wants." Dylan looks at Elena as she softly says, "You don't have to see her if you don't want to." Elena says, "I don't really have a choice." Alaric says, "She's threatening to go on a killing spree." Dylan says, "A little bit overkill, but okay." Elena says, "I wanna do it. I wanna meet her. If I don't, I know I'll regret it." Later, Dylan's at the town square with Alaric outside of Grill where Elena's having her meeting with Isobel. Dylan says, "We should be in there." Alaric says, "No. Isobel made it clear we're not to step foot inside." Dylan says, "I'm not gonna kill her in a crowded restaurant." Alaric says, "You're not gonna kill her, period." Dylan says, "She ruined your life, and you still wanna protect her?" Alaric says, "She's my wife. Was, was my wife. I looked for the woman I married, but she wasn't there. Whoever that is... is cold and detached." Dylan says, "Yeah. She's given up her humanity." Alaric says, "Yeah, see, I don't get that. Stefan has his humanity. He's a good guy. Hell, you're an ass and you kill people, but I still see something human in you, but with her, there was... there was nothing." Dylan says, "You can turn it off. Like a button you can press, I mean, Stefan's different. He wants the whole human experience. He wants to feel every episode of "How I Met Your Mother" so he shuts his feelings out. The problem is, as a vampire your instinct is not to feel. Isobel chose the easier road. No guilt and shame. No regret. I mean, come on. If you could turn it off, wouldn't you?" Alaric says, "You haven't." Dylan says, "Of course, I have, Ric. That's why I'm so fun to be around." Later, Dylan found where Isobel is staying and she's in her living room with her jacket off playing strip poker with a woman named Cherie who's half naked with bite marks on her body. Dylan hears the door close and she looks over to see Isobel. Isobel says, "Now, it's just one blast from the past after another. Dégagé, Cherie." Cherie walks away. Dylan smiles at Isobel and says, "It's good to see you, Isobel. I was just having fun with your naughty little minion." Isobel says, "Hmm. How'd you find me?" Dylan speeds over to Isobel and says, "Searched all the neighborhood bank-owned foreclosures and found the most expensive one." Isobel says, "Oh, I should have known. You were the one that taught me that." Dylan says, "Mmm-hmm." Isobel says, "What are you really doing here?" Dylan says, "Well, you caused quite a stir when you blew into town. Saw everyone except for the woman who made you. I'm a little hurt." Isobel says, "I'm so sorry." As Isobel goes to hug Dylan she grabs Dylan by the neck and squeezes it as she says, "Did you bring the device?" Dylan laughs and speeds Isobel off her. Dylan says, "What are you doing with John Gilbert?" Isobel says, "We dated a few times when were young. He was a little bit in love with me." Dylan says, "I'm sure one of the many. Now, this little invention, what do you want with it?" Isobel says, "Oh, me personally? I don't want anything with it. I'm just doing what I'm told. You know, Dylan, we're on the same side." Dylan grabs Isobel's chin and forces her to look up at her as she says, "Oh, yeah? Which side is that?" Isobel says, "Katherine's. She wants John Gilbert to have the device. And I think that you know that she's not happy when she doesn't get what she wants." Isobel has her arms around Dylan's neck when Dylan pushes Isobel away from her as she says, "Why are you doing her dirty work?" Isobel says, "Don't kill the messenger. We both know that you can't control Katherine. She does what she wants." Dylan says, "So do I." Isobel says, "Oh, really, Dylan? You do?" As Isobel goes to attack Dylan, Dylan catches Isobel's hand stopping her from laying a hand on her. They're really closer to each other and Isobel smiles and says, "What should we do now? Oh, yeah. Memory serves." The two are locked in a liplock. Isobel speeds them over to the couch with her on top. Dylan smirks and rips open Isobel's top as her breasts fall out. Dylan latches her mouth on Isobel's nipple, swirling her tongue as Isobel moans. As Dylan does the other one, she watches Isobel moan and then Dylan makes her move and flips both of them so Isobel is on the bottom with Dylan's hand wrapped around her throat and she angrily says, "Now that I have your attention, listen up. You do not come into my town, threaten people I care about. Going after Elena, bad move. You leave her alone, or I will rip you to bits because I do believe in killing the messenger. You know why? Because it sends a message. Katherine wants something from me you tell that little bitch to come get it herself." Dylan lets go of Isobel and grabs her jacket and speeds out the room.
