Floyd pov

"Why did you even do that?! I thought you were on our side!" I shouted at the paper-like assistant in front of me who was cleaning some stuff on the vanity I was placed on. Velvet requested her to watch over me so that I won't escape again. I felt kinda bad for raising my voice at her but I was angry, I honestly wouldn't really care anymore at this point if I would never escape, but Veneer got into this mess too!

"I'm sorry Floyd, it's just..." she stopped at what she was doing and faced me. "It's just what?!-" "I needed to do it!-" "And why do you need to?!" I waited for an answer but all I got was silence.

"Oh yeah, I forgot, you were also the one who invented those vacuum shoulder pads for Velvet. I shouldn't be surprised!" I put my hands up as I rolled my eyes hinting sarcasm at the last part.

"I-I didn't know! Okay! I didn't know that she would use them for getting more of your essence! She said that they were for extracting fruit essence for fruitier smoothies onstage!" I mentally scoffed, is she dumb or oblivious?? How exactly does that fruity smoothie shit work?!

"How did you even find out??" I asked her, "I um- I overheard you and Mr. Veneer talking about your plan last night, and I also saw Mr. Veneer turn into a troll, well- I was going to keep it a secret until Miss Velvet ordered me to find more trolls and um she cornered and interrogated me and I couldn't- I was panicking and I accidentally spat out your plan!- I-I'm so sorry, I truly am, please forgive me!!" Tears were starting to grow on the brim of her eyes and I looked the other way as I let out a heavy sigh.

"Believe me, Floyd, I didn't want to do this but I had no choice! I badly needed the raise! My sister is in the hospital and her bills are worth much more than my life savings, that's why I came here in Mount Rageous to apply for high paying engineering jobs but none of the companies hired me because according to them I was a small and weird good-for-nothing paper creature just because our type of species wasn't known to everyone. So when I applied and got the job as an assistant for Miss Velvet and Mr. Veneer, I had to do anything just for the big salary, even when it means having to hide up an act of a crime, but that also makes me feel like a criminal too! B-but I don't even know what to do anymore! When I found out about your captivity and Miss Velvet being a fraud for using your talent, I tried to call the police about it but she caught me and threatened to kill me if I ever spill her secret! I thought that everything would go well just because I was working for celebrities, but I never thought that behind her sweet smile was an evil abuser. I should've known the first time I stepped into Mount Rageous, I made a bad decision by ever coming here, I wish I could just run away and never come back, I wish I never applied for this job! But I had no choice!"

"I'm sorry Crimp...I didn't know-" "Don't be sorry Floyd, it's not your fault, we're all just victims of Miss Velvet's abuse..." she sniffled, "Sorry," she muttered, wiping away her tears and going back to what she was doing.

"You know," I started, "it's not too late to do the right thing, it would do good not only for you, but for all of us," "But I can't, not only my life is on the line but also my mother's, it's not as easy as said Floyd..." "You're right, it's not easy, but it's for our freedom! No one deserves to be treated like this, right?" There were a few seconds of silence before I spoke up once again, "Look, I know that there is some company out there who would truly accept you for who you are-"

"CRIMP!! MAKE ME A MACCHIATO!!"

We were interrupted by a sudden loud ringing voice of a female throughout the hallway which made us flinch and snap out of our solemn trance.

"Yes Miss Velvet!!" Crimp scurried to get ready for her new order, "Again, I'm sorry Floyd..." she faced me back "It's fine, think about what I said..." she softly nodded and went out the room.

I sighed as I sat back down on the cold floor of my prison.
