Instead of confronting Poseidon after he violated her priestess, Athena punished the victim. Getting cursed and banished wasn't enough, Medusa's head was also lopped off. So even in death, she was still thoroughly used by her killer. Chai!

People argue that Athena turned Medusa into a gorgon to shield her from men. What sort of psychotic help is that? Why not gift her the eye of petrification and stop there? Why replace her beauty with the appearance of a monster and give her an ability that hero-nutjobs will covet?
Others are like ☝🤓, "But Medusa turned only men to stone. MEN. Women were safe."

Nearly all the male deities in Greek mythology were grade-A scum, but the reason Medusa's victims were men was that heroes on a quest for glory kept infiltrating her island to separate her head from her body.
I'm 99.99999% sure if a chica tried to take Medusa's head, her gender wouldn't shield her from becoming past tense. Whut? 🤨 You think a smarty-pants wouldn't have thought of sending a woman to get Medusa's head if it were that simple?

First, there would be many changes to the regular Greek mythology lore you're used to. Sure, Zeus is still the top dog (god of lightning and all that overpowered BS), and other high gods' abilities remain (kinda) the same, but know that I'll go nuts with my creative freedom in this story. The possibilities are endless. Endless, I tell ya!
