Kitchen didn't feel like nighttime with the cars driving past with their brights on, not caring for the others on the road or the insomniacs that walked on the sidewalk. The Donnelly's adored it, they loved staying up late into the night and just listening to the sound of cars driving past their third story window, taking advantage of it as they didn't hear many cars in their rotting countryside house they grew up in. It was weird━moving from the country to the city━but they loved it, instantly becoming one with the city folk.

Though it brought back bad memories, the Donnelly siblings couldn't compare the city to their termite-infested countryside house. Their favorite things from that house contradicted their favorite things about the city━they loved the silence that came with the house at night, the only noise being the frogs from the pond; but they loved the noise of cars driving past and New Yorkers yelling about nonsense to someone, most likely having a drug deal since those happen frequently around the apartment complex they lived in.

Castiel was the biggest night owl of the two, Rowan being more of an early bird ( "Early bird gets the worm, Cas!" "I don't even know what that means!" ) . It's always been like that, even before they moved to Hell's Kitchen and when Rowan didn't know how to read and write. They didn't know why it was that way, but neither minded it since Castiel had taught Rowan how to make breakfast and she started up some chocolate chip pancakes in the morning before Castiel woke up to go to work.
