Chapter 17

Amika's Pov
...

"-Loren for the last time that's sourdough not normal dough...." Courtney called after her daughter who was about to put a tray of sourdough into the oven

In the span of half an hour, we had already gotten started on a few meals. Lucas's older sister, Lena came a few minutes ago and she was now helping us.Liam arrived around the same time

Of course they were some introductions and she did seem a bit skeptical about me unlike her whole family. Liam was really friendly and very helpful.

Liam had a daughter who was 6 and a son who was 4 turning 5 this year. The house was really noisy because of the amount of kids even though they were only 4, it felt like they were 10 kids

ah kids...

Moving on, Courtney was on baked goods, Loren was on desserts, and by luck I was on the main course with Lena

She was a pretty dark browned female, most likely getting her genes from her father, she was also tall

She came with her husband and twin sons, who were about 3 years old but were the exact same height as Myra

While Courtney and Loren went to the pantry, Lena turned to me
" So why are you with Lucas again..." she
asked
" I'm Myra's nanny..." I said
" And why did Lucas pick you....or are you just another gold digger ?"she asked again

Things were starting to get a little bit uncomfortable and I wasn't going to stand her being rude for no reason

" Excuse me?..." I said getting defensive
" Lena leave Amika alone, she's a guest here and hasn't done anything wrong..."
"Mom we can't trust anyone especially after Selene-.."
" Lena we all forgave her and even Lucas did..," Courtney brought out
" Mom, you don't understand.... she'll hurt them like she did.." she shouted, but not loud enough for everybody in the living room to hear

Saying that she left the kitchen,
"We're sorry about her, Amika, she's just very protective about Lucas and Myra, especially after what happened..." Courtney said while putting a reassuring hand on my shoulder

" Yeah, Lena is a tough cookie on the outside, but on the inside, she's all gooey and soft... she'll come around" Loren said

"Thank you so much.....if I may ask what did happen to Lucas and Myra..." I asked

" Well, since I can tell that you and Lucas are close enough....we'll tell you. So back when Lucas was in highschool, he and this girl, Selene were dating, none of us liked her but we tolerated her because of Lucas...." Courtney narrated

" Then one day, Lucas found her cheating on him with one of the guys on the school's boxing team, she said it was an accident and she thought he was for Lucas..."Loren said

"Lucas was not even angry, he shut himself out because she trusted him and he trusted her or atleast that's what he thought, she left for an entire year, then the day she came back she brought a baby..."

"Of course we didn't believe because she had cheated on Lucas with so many other guys....but when we did a dna test, it matched, Selena said that she had realised her mistake and that she wanted the three of them to be a family again.." Loren said

"Lucas because of the baby accepted her back and began to raise the baby with her except she did nothing. Lucas was always asking her to do her part and then she would always bring up how she was alone during the pregnancy...."

" So Lucas just took care of Myra on his own, Selene was always travelling and buying so much stuff while we took care of Myra, till one day we found Selene in Lucas's bed with another man....while Myra was on the floor crying"
