"Welcome to the crew, y/n!" Beidou patted their back roughly as they giggled softly.

"Thanks! What a warm welcome-" y/n said as they were handed a glass of wine. Beidou laughed heartily as she clank glasses with y/n.

"It's a tradition, sweetheart. We need to welcome all new members, don't we? We're all family here, after all!!"

Y/n nodded happily as they took a sip of their wine, the rest of the crew's happiness and energy being contagious.

They just got accepted into Beidou's crew earlier that day— they'd been kicked out of their home, fired from their job due to the less reliability of them being able to do anything to benefit the owner of the company.. and yet, Captain Beidou welcomed them with open arms.

I'll work it off to thank her for it..

Y/n was forever grateful to her. And they'll make sure she's aware of their gratitude.

As they were thinking of the different things they could do, an arm resting on their shoulder pulled them out of their thoughts.

"Say, y/n, is there anything in particular which you enjoy doing? Do you cook?" Beidou looked at them eagerly, waiting for a response. Y/n saw some of the crew members listening intently too.

"Well.. other than knitting and heavy lifting stuff, I can cook up some decent dishes. I'm no professional, but I'd say it tastes good enough for something that's edible." Y/n smiled at her sheepishly as she walked back and forth, thinking carefully. Then, she suddenly turned towards y/n, smiling widely.

"Y/n, you are now the crew chef! Congratulations!"

"Crew.. chef?" y/n blinked at her, wondering how they could possibly get such an easy job so quickly.

"Yes, crew chef! Wanna know something?" Beidou leaned in, a slight smirk on her face. Y/n nodded slowly, to which Beidou leaned in to whisper.

"Well.. nobody in the crew really knows how to cook. The only one who does know hates cooking alone, so.. we were kinda in dire need of one.. help a fellow captain out?" she shrugged, smiling at them apologetically. Y/n smiled before nodding happily.

"Of course! I was just wondering how I got it so fast, that's all. I'd be glad to cook for everyone."

The rest of the crew seemed as if they'd all been praying for y/n to agree on it— y/n assumed they'd had to eat less.. decent.. food majority of times. Honestly, y/n was just glad to help.

Captain Beidou seemed almost ecstatic as she bounced on her heels— y/n interrupted it with a quick question.

"Hey, who's that person who doesn't like cooking alone? Maybe we could.. cook with each other?" Y/n wanted to try and become accustomed to the people around them. Beidou looked at them curiously.

"Ooh, now that I think about it, he's around the same age as you-" she looked y/n up and down, as if calculating something. Then she nodded approvingly.

"I think you two would get along great, actually. He's a very... expressive guy. Poetic? Slightly excessive? Well, he's great though. Sweet boy, he's like a son to me."

Y/n nodded slowly upon hearing this vague introduction. The guy sounded interesting, to say the least.

Hope he's easy to get along with.. considering we'd cook together.
