Twilight's Secret

Chapter 1: Twilight's Strange Behavior

Lynkura's POV

I awoke earlier then the others did, I was always up before dawn. I had an underlying reason for my actions, none of the others knew, not even my friend and mentor the Hero of Time. You see I have a bit of a secret... okay! Okay! Fine... it's a huge secret, no one except Ilia and Rusl knew that I wasn't a he. Yes, you herd that right. I'm really a girl, and my name is Lynkura. I sighed as I started my trek to the nearby lake. I sighed once more as I combed my fingers through my tangled hair, I splashed some water on my face, then I headed silently back to camp as I had already bathed in the water of the lake. My hair was still a bit damp as I shifted into my wolf form and I laid in the shade of a tall tree. I just sat looking up as I watched the sunrise into the sky as the stars fated into the unknown. I quiatly shiffted back to my human form as I pulled my hair into a high ponytail, I then quickly put my green cap on, my eyes suddenly picking up sudden movement as I noticed Time emerge from the cave. I was lost in thought so as a result I let out a startled Yelp when he suddenly spoke up from somewhere nearby.

"Eep! Time. Don't do that!" I huffed in annoyance, as my mentor just grinned.

"So how long have you been out here Wolf?!" He questioned, and I just shrugged in response. Wolf was one of the nicknames that Time and the others gave me.

A few hours later everyone was ready for the day, I was perched in a tree, something I did often on my journey to rid Hyrule of Twilight.

"Hay! Twilight! Come on, it's time to go!" Sky called up to me, as I jumped down from the tree, I landed in a silent crouch. I nodded as we started walking, we didn't have any place in mind, so we ended up just exploring the different places.

"Hay Twili? What's up?!" I looked to see Time staring at me. I resisted rolling my eyes as I looked away in embarrassment and Time frowned.

"You've been acting a bit strange lately, are you okay Twilight?!" I sighed and shrugged my shoulders. Time's frown deepened.

"What is it you're not telling me Twilight?!" I looked away keeping mum.

"Hay! Wild? Can you come over here please?!" As Time called for Wild, I made a whimper that sounded more like a wolf then a human, I tried to climb up the nearest tree but time pulled my arm.

"Twilight! Calm down please, just tell me what's wrong. I only want to help you." Time said, as Wild approached, Sky following behind.

I tried once more to back away but I was held in place by Time.

"Come on Twilight, pleas just tell us." I sighed in annoyance as I spoke up.

"It's nothing Time don't worry about it!" I said, as I finally broke free. I shook my head as we continued walking in silence. That had been to close for comfort, Time, Sky and Wild almost forced the secret out of me... almost. One thing they didn't know about me is that, no thanks to Zant I'm scared of being cornered, and I jump at shadows now to. I guess after Midna left, it made me a bit wary of shadows, so I also startle very easily. And to be honest I haven't slept much either, that one is easier to hide. But even Time can tell that I'm a bit jumpy, he must know me better then the others.

"Hay Twili?" Wind called out, as I let out a wolf-like growl and I snapped at him.

"Wind! Don't call me that!" I glaired at him, as I looked away, I wasn't in the mood, the reason? My girl problems were starting. I groaned in annoyance, usually Ilia would help me when it was time for my menstruations, but now that she wasn't here I had to go through it. I sighed as I lowered my head. I was hurting all over, so I wouldn't scream I shifted into my wolf form. I then curled up by the fire that Wild had made.

"Twilight. Are you sure you're okay?" Wild asked, as I let out a small whimper of pain. Wild went over to me, and when he saw blood coming from my lower Area his eyes went wide.

"T-Twilight... are you... you, you're a-a GIRL?" He whispered quietly as I whimpered again,

"How in the World did he know?" I thought as he smirked.

"Well Twilight, when princess Zelda gets easily irritated with everyone... I've figured out why... the reason she finally told me was because, a few times she managed to scare me into running off!" He laughed a little as I looked up at him with wide blue eyes. Then he became serious once more.

"I promise Twilight, I won't tell anyone... not even Time!" At those words I relaxed as he continued cooking dinner, I curled up into his side as I fell asleep.

"Hay Twilight? Dinners..." Wind said, as Time spoke up cautiously.

"Um Wind? I wouldn't do that..." Time said, nervously as I snapped my eyes open with a growl. Wind screamed in fright as he hid behind Sky. Time carefully walked over to me, as he said softly,

"Are you okay Twilight? Do you want to turn back?" When I let out a pained Whimper Time frowned as he felt my forehead. Time turned to Sky as he spoke calmly but nervously,

"Hay sky? can you come over here and feel Twilight's forehead?" Sky frowned as he approached me.

"Ouch, okay... Time I think he has a fever, maybe that's why he's been acting so strange... stupid wolf!" He said jokingly, the familiar phrase caught my attention but I knew it was Sky, it wasn't Midna.

"Twilight? Why didn't you tell us? We could've helped you." Spirit spoke up, as Wind peeked his head out from behind Sky. I whimpered again as I pushed my snout against Sky's hand. I huffed as I closed my eyes once more,

"If only the others knew!" I thought sarcastically as I gave one last look at Time and Wild before my eyes slipped shut once more.

When I awoke the next morning, my vision was a bit blurry. I stood up slowely as I shiffted back to my human form, once I did I was off balance and I ended up tripping over my own feet, with a very wolf like yelp. I tried to keep quiet... but knowing my luck someone would here me. I sighed, as I sat up on my knees I caught sight of Wild coming out of the cave. I gave a relieved sigh as I spoke,

"I thought you were time at first... little hero!" I said the last part with a bit of Midna's snark, an Impish grin on my face, as Wild rolled his eyes.

"You've taken after the Twilight princess in attitude haven't you Twilight?" Wild asked with an amused smile on his face as I pouted like a child.

"Okay. Now that reminds me of Time's friend Saria! He talks a lot about her, remember?" I nodded an impish grin still on my face. It was silent for a while before Wild spoke again.

"So since the whole... you know girl thing... when do you wash up?" I rolled my eyes, I knew what he meant.

"You mean to say when do I bathe? I do it before dawn." I replied simply as Wild blushed in embarrassment, as I let out a small laugh.

"So why do you like to perch up in trees?" Wild asked as I shrugged.

"I did it a lot on my journey, it's also a good way to avoid monsters durning the night!" I replied as Wilded nodded in understanding.
