Chapter Nine: Dance Practice

"OKAY THEN, after that the clubs will be open permanently. Dapat last school year pa ang opening nito but the deliveries of equipments and furniture got delayed at ginagawa pa ang mga offices ng mga club members. But now we have received a letter from the certain group that I mention kanina na pwede na itong buksan because the constructions are already done. All the students can join even if you are in college, because this clubs is for everyone," bumalik ako sa reyalidad ng magsalita ang nasa harap.

Oo nga pala magbubukas na ang mga clubs, two years na itong ginagawa pero hindi matapos tapos. Because there was a time that the school's sponsor's money got delayed for some reason and all of the furnitures deliveries got delayed. We have a lot of clubs and every clubs have offices at sapat na gamit sa loob nito para wala na silang gagastusin pa.

This is one of our projects, we the Royalties propose this project.

"Anong clubs ang sasalihan niyo?" tanong ni Wil pero walang sumasagot sa kanya kaya sumimangot ito at tumingin sa akin gamit ang kanyang nangungusap na mga mata. We're at the cafeteria, eating our lunch.

I sigh. They really love to tease him.

I swallow the food. "Of course the archery club," I answered. "Kayo?"

He nodded. "As expected."

"You know, Cali, it's okay kung dalawang club ang sasalihan mo this year, besides it's our final year in senior high." Hailey said.

"I agree," CJ nodded. "I mean, you are stuck in archery for six years so I think it's time for you to join a different club."

He's right, six years na akong naglalaro ng archery but I'm not stuck, sadyang hindi ko ito kayang iwanan. The idea of shooting arrows to the target makes me feel things. Good things.

"Why not join the vocal club?" lihim kong pinandilatan si Cora sa sinabi niya.

What the fridge, Cora?

"What?" my brother frowned and looked at me. Ako naman ito na parang baliw who keeps shaking her head.

"No I will not, no way in hell." sabi ko na nakatingin sa kapatid kong nakakunot pa rin ang noo.

"You still sing? You know you can't do that, Cali. When Mom and Dad find out, they will surely kill you."

"No I'm not okay?! I don't sing anymore!" I shouted.

"Hey hey, stop it. Nasa public place tayo." awat ni Hailey.

"Make it sure, Cali, make it sure," sabi niya at tumayo na. "Remember what I said." at umalis.

"What the heck, Cora? Bakit mo sinabi 'yun?" napa-hilamos ako sa mukha habang pabalik-balik ang lakad, hindi mapakali. Narito kami sa likod ng grade twelve building, pagkatapos ng klase ay hinatak ko siya papunta rito.

"I'm sorry, okay? I'm just trying to help—"

"I don't need your freaking help!" I shouted while trying not to cry, "Paano kung malaman nila Mom? My dreams will shatter, alam mo yan." ang lakas ng tibok ng puso ko just thinking about it. Parang nanginginig ang buong katawan ko sa sobrang takot.

I can't lose my dream!

"Let me finish please!" sigaw niya sa tunong nagmamakaawa. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "I really wanted to help, okay? I can see that you are struggling everyday para hindi malaman ng iba ang tungkol sa pagkanta mo... at naaawa ako sa'yo, Cal. Your talent doesn't deserve to be hidden... you deserve to be recognised as a singer. So I wanted to help you, Cal, I really do."
