A Crescent's Love Sonnet

An infinite sea of darkness,

with specs of light that I could only dream of seeing.

There I was,

cold and sturdy in my ways and my heart.

Traveling the same routes,

another step here and another there.

Repeating a hundred, no, a thousand times.

Lifeless, expressionless, unmoving.

Was there even a way to tell?

I did not know time, much like I didn't know myself.

There was some excitement, I suppose

when storms came my way and dented my heart.

If there were reason to continue my pointless existence,

I wanted to know it, pursue it, hold it.

Yet, it crumpled away, fading into nothingness.

But one day, I saw you spark.

You lit ablaze the sea of black before my eyes.

My existence had meaning that I did not see

My life had purpose I did not know.

Each stone thrown my way,

Each storm I endured was all for a reason.

I basked in the glory of your light, hoping to reciprocate the emotions you gave.

I reflected you, to sing your praise.

I gave light to others as you so gave to me.

You gave my edges beauty,

and without you, I would not know the universe could be so bright.
