Reyna had a crush on Jason since they met when she first came into camp. She thought about what was going to happen—today, half of the demigods at Camp Jupiter will get a string that connects to their other half. Only the one who gets the string can see it, and is the only one who can until said person admitted her feelings to their soulmate. She looks down at her wrist and sees a bright red string. Her eyes widened in shock. She will have to find her soulmate. She decided to go outside, hoping that her soulmate was Jason.
Outside, Jason waved her over. She looked at her wrist again then at Jason's and saw the same bright red string on his wrist. It took all her willpower to not squeal like a 5-year-old and have a tomato-red face. She walked over, trying for a confident look.
"Hey Jase, what's up?" Reyna asked.
"Nothing much—I'm just trying to figure out who my soulmate is without the string, since I didn't get one. Who's your soulmate?"
Reyna had to force herself not to yell "YOU'RE MY SOULMATE!" and decided that she would hold off telling him for a bit. She changed her gaze onto the camp.
"I... I don't know," Reyna lied. "I didn't get a string either."
"Oh. Well, best of luck to the both of us then," Jason said, smiling before leaving.
This was going to be a hard challenge for Reyna.

After a few weeks, campers found their soulmates, except for Reyna and Jason. Jason was getting suspicious, so he went to Reyna for confirmation.
"Hey Rey," a confused Jason said, approaching her.
Reyna turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Hm?"
"I still haven't found my soulmate. Almost everybody else has. Are you having the same problem?"
"Uhm... yeah," Reyna said, awkwardly.
"Strange," Jason commented, absentmindedly looking at his wrist as if to see a soulmate string appear.
Reyna could see Jason's despair. She was in misery herself. She decided it was time—finally time to tell Jason the truth.
"Jason... I actually have something to confess to you," Reyna said, averting her gaze onto the ground.
"Huh? What is it? Have you found your soulmate and just haven't told me?" Jason said, bemused.
"That... that's exactly it, Jason. How did you guess?" Reyna asked, in bewilderment.
Jason turned to look at the sky and chuckled lightly. "Guess I have good observation skills," Jason said, looking back at Reyna. "Who's the lucky guy that gets you?"
Reyna held out her hand. Luckily, Jason understood the message and laced their hands together, the confused expression on his face not wavering.
"The lucky guy is you," she said, and Jason's eyes widened.
"I—The string. I see it... why have you been hiding this from me?" Jason said, with sadness in his eyes.
"I didn't know how you would feel," Reyna muttered.
Jason gave Reyna a small kiss on the cheek, their hands still intertwined, and smiled. "I love you, Reyna."
Reyna smiled back. "I love you too."
