"You uh, guys do that... I'm gonna... I'm gonna make a quick phone call." Charlie said pulling out her phone and slipped though some nearby doors. Once she closed the door, she quickly turned on her phone and went straight to her contacts to find her mom, dialed her, before pulling it up to her ear.
After several minutes of waiting for her mother to call, it went to voicemail which she looked defeated by this.
"Hey Mom." She began, trying to sound bubbly as usual, "I know, I keep calling you and you must be very busy... r-really busy." She said with a fake laugh, "But um, hey uh, the interview didn't uh, didn't go so well." She explains as she shrank to her knees, "And... I uh, I don't know if I can ever make a difference." Charlie said.
Tears started to form and roll down her cheeks as she wiped her eyes.
"I... I don't know what I'm doing... I could really use your advice mom. I... I think you were right about what Dad said." She sadly laughed before sitting in silence for a bit, "Anyway..." She said wiping her face again, "I'll stop talking before this gets too long." She said and stood up trying to regain her posture, "Love you... bye." She said very weakly as she hanged up the phone. As she soon as she ended the voicemail tears began to flow again as she leaned against the door. Today did not go the way she wanted them to.
{EARLIER THAT DAY}
"Alright, you know what to say?" Vaggie asked Charlie in a calm matter as she fixed Charlie's bow. Charlie took a deep breath before showing a smile of confidence."Let's do this." She said but Vaggie could tell that she was still a little nervous.
"Just look at me, and I'll mouth it to you." She said but Charlie frowned at this idea and leaned back. Charlie was capable of giving speeches before... though it was for her schools debate team which was only in front of a small audience... this will be front of every demon that has television.
"Come on Vaggie, I know what to say. I just think we should... you know, make things sound more exciting." She said as she pondered on what she could do to spice things up. It didn't take her long though as her eyes immediately lit up which worried Vaggie, "I know! What if I..."
"Sing a song about it?"
"You knew I was gonna say that!" Charlie said as she held Vaggie and booped her nose (rather cutely like)
"That's because I do know you." Vaggie answered but then became serious, "But please don't sing to them, this is serious." She pleaded with her, to which Charlie looked down in disappointment.
"Well you know I'm better at expressing myself through song."
"Life isn't a musical, Hon." Vaggie reiterated to Charlie who was in a table but soon sighed in agreement and got off the table thanks to Vaggies help.
"Fine. But... I have these other ideas of what to say!" Charlie said excitedly as she reached into ur coat pocket and pulled out a piece of notebook paper, "The highlighted bits are the best part!" She said as she handed Vaggie the paper to look over what she means.
"Hon... all of this is highlighted." Vaggie mentioned as she traversed down the paper and stopped at the bottom, "And whats with the drawing?"
"That is the happy ending! Where we'll sing a song and everyone will be honkey dorry." Charlie answered with excitement as her eyes sparkleed in joy. Vaggie groaned as she rubbed her eye not liking the idea which Charlie immediately picked up on, "Fine fine. Guess I'll just have to resort to my impeccable improve skills." She said with a British accent before kissing Vaggie on the cheek for luck as she headed out for her interview. Vaggie was taken back by the sudden kiss but playfully rolled her eye and giggled before watching her girlfriend.
