Bailey could feel the attention on her as she walked to her locker an hour later. It was just before sixth period and the hallways were littered with students scurrying to the last lesson of the day.

Still feeling the effects of the icebags on her bruised skin, Bailey was elated that she was excused for the rest of the day. She had just spoken to her mum, who was happy for her to catch a ride home with Emily, who was also likely to skip the last period.

As far as Nurse Fournel knew, Emily had recently been released by Dean Kurel. She still didn't know the results of that visit, and she was eager to hunt Emily down and find out. Was her friend suspended? Expelled? Emily hadn't used any magic, so her punishment wouldn't be as severe as that bloody alchemist.

Just thinking about that blonde bitch had Bailey clenching her fist in anger.

As she reached her locker, Bailey couldn't help but wonder about her sudden surges of anger. It certainly wasn't the first time that magic had been used against her, or she had been pushed aside. But this anger, it felt raw. Primitive, even.

Bailey swallowed deeply as she shoved all her notebooks and textbooks into her locker. She didn't bother with any homework for tonight. She didn't think she'd get any real work done anyway.

"Hey, omega."

Bailey felt her body tense as Madison stepped into place beside her. Without even looking sideways, Bailey sensed a few other people surround her. Breathing in deeply, she recognised a few of the scents.

Sean with his arrogant smirk.

The disinterested Jaxon.

The overeager Pearl as she desperately sought the approval of the alpha and beta bloodlines.

"What? You're not even going to talk to me?" Madison's words were heavy with scorn.

Bailey didn't answer and only slammed her locker shut. She lungs only pulled in thick hair with now, and having these alpha creatures around her wasn't making anything better.

"Hey, omega. Let me guess, that blonde went after you because you're screwing that emo alchemist, right?" Madison leaned in close, a perfectly manicured nail tapping against her bright red lips.

"Had to be," Pearl was quick to agree.

Bailey could help but notice how the other wolves ignored her. Pearl was a leach, eager to be accepted.

"Just go away." Bailey risked a look at Madison. That was a bad move on her part. Madison had a callous look on her face, one that only grew when she saw how flustered Bailey was becoming.

"We're just talking . . ."

"No, you're not."

Bailey almost sagged with relief when Emily was suddenly there. While Madison's face was cruel, Emily's face was full of anger.
