Reneé

I knocked on the door of what I hoped was Billie's place, feeling anxiety rise in my chest when a ginger haired man opened the door.

"Hi, um is this Billie O'Connell's residence?"

"Who's asking?"

"I'm Reneé Rapp, I-I work with her."

His face turned cold. "Oh. You." His tone cold as well. "Billie told me about you."

"Yeah, um about that-"

"Do you have any idea what you've done to my sister? She hasn't left her room in two weeks. I haven't seen her this depressed since she was a teenager, and it's your fault, I hope you acknowledge that." He says and the pit of guilt in my stomach grows.

"I know, I know. I'm here to fix it."

"I don't think she wants to see you."

"Let her in." He turns around and I see Billie standing behind him in the living room.

And boy did she look rough only adding the already growing guilt.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, it's fine, Finn. She can't possibly make my life any worse."

"Okay. I'll be in my room if you need me kid."
He kisses the top of her head before leaving.

"What the hell are you doing here? You know you have some fucking nerve showing up at my house, how did you even get my address? What do you want, anyways? Come to brag or something?"

I stop her babbling as I hold up the USB and her expression goes blank, yet shocked.

"I told Mrs. Taylor everything. Long story short, she fired me and we were able to retrieve your USB with your demo on it. She wants to hear it by tomorrow afternoon."

I hold it out for her to take but she shakes her head.

"Why? Why did you do this?"

"Because I've never seen you that upset before, and I've done a lot of things in our career to make you upset. But what I did was really fucking shitty, even for me. I went too far this time, and I'm sorry."

She hesitates a bit, but eventually sighs and grabs the USB stick. "...Thanks." She says, albeit reluctantly after a moment.

"Also I may have uhh listened to it. And I felt even worse because...it's a really really good demo. You have a great voice, Billie, and it would suck if I was the reason no one ever heard it."

My compliment made her scoff and smirk. "So you do have a soul."

"Oh, shut up." I roll my eyes. "Good luck out there, O'Connell."

"Thank you, come again." I sigh as the rush hour at my new job finally slowed down.

I head to the break room to relax but am quickly disrupted with a ring of my phone.

"For fucks sake. Hello?"

"Reneé?" I immediately sit up, recognizing the voice as soon as I heard it.

"Uh-..M-Mrs. Taylor?"

"I'd like you to come by my office, there's a few things I'd like to discuss with you."
