Marshall Lee's P.O.V
Fionna. She's so...so....amazing. She's funny and clever and it's just so easy to make her squirm. Yeah, I saw her looking at my abs. Who wouldn't? She was blushing like crazy, an her eyes would not make contact with mine. I was a little skeptical of how she looked when she said there was nothing in the box. But whatever.
If only I could tell her how I feel. How I've felt for a long time, but was just to dumb and stubborn to know it.
That's right, ladies and gentlemen.
I'm in love with Fionna the Human.
I don't know how, I don't know why, but somewhere along the way that is our friendship, I fell in love with her. I notice everything about her.
Her hair, so long and beautiful, like a golden wave flowing down to the ground to make a splash. Her eyes, shining like stars, so deep I lose myself in them sometimes. Her smile, unlike anything I'd ever seen before, making me happier than ever, brighter than a diamond. I love her lips, her cheeks, her legs, everything! I just love.... Her. The way she laughs and how she jokes. The way we tease each other and fight. How she's so brilliant, and beautiful, even her mind.
Look at me. Marshall Lee, son of a demon and the Vampire King. Googling over some girl. But, a voice says in the back of my head, she's not just some girl. She's the love of your life. How did I get so sappy? What happened to the old me, the me who was so chill and laid back? Why can't I be that guy again?
Oh well. I grab my axe bass and start a new song.
FIONNA'S P.O.V
When I got home from Marshall's place, I ran straight up to my room. I took the glowstone, which is what I decided to call the stone I found in the box, and rolled it over in my hands a few times. I couldn't let Marshall know I have it, it would ruin the surprise! Marshall's birthday is coming up, he's gonna be 1,001 years old, and I found the perfect present.
The plan is to "borrow" his axe bass so I can use the stone's mythical powers to make his bass light up. Legend says that when you take a piece of the stone and implant it in something, that object will glow when you want it to. All you have to do is think, "glow."
Pretty cool, right?
But I just have to figure out a way to get his bass away from him without his knowing. Oh, I got it!
"Cake!" I yelled. "Cake, I need your help!"
"What is it, Fionna?" Cake says coming into the room.
I explain to her about the glowstone and it's powers and what I plan to do with it.
"And all I need is for you to distract Marshall for one whole day," I tell her.
"Honey, wouldn't it be easier for YOU to do the distracting? You guys certainly know each other better."
"I guess. So you're gonna take the bass, implant the little piece, then sneak the bass back into his house, got it?"
"It's not that hard to remember," Cake points out.
"Whatever... Lets go!" I shout.
We get to Marshall's house and Cake shrinks down and hides in the bushes outside his house. I knock on the door and wait patiently for him to open the door. He opens it, this time fully dressed in his day clothes, and smiles.
"Couldn't get enough of me, eh Fionna?" He smirks his famous smirk.
"Yeah...wait! No... So I was wondering... Wanna go check out another dungeon? Or maybe we could go back to the treehouse and watch some movies, maybe fight a little," I suggest whatever comes to my mind.
"Sounds good. Lemme just grab my axe bass-"
"NO! I mean... It's too bulky, it'll get in the way."
Marshall looks confused, but agrees not to take it, and we walk side by side away from his house. Before we get too far away I sneak a peek back and see Cake already on the move. She gives me a quick thumbs up and I return the gesture.
"So...where we headed?" I ask.
"You're the one who asked me on the date," Marshall grins to himself.
"It's not a date! Just two friends, hanging out. Like you wanted."
"Oh, no. This isn't the day. I'm saving THAT day for some other time."
"Oh," is all I can say.
Marshall and I walked in a comfortable silence until we found the perfect dungeon, one that was actually not hard to find. I grabbed a torch off the wall and walked into the darkness, that was soon lit by my fire.
We chatted about some stuff until Marshall came to a sudden stop. He pushed me behind him softly, and a bit protective, and put a finger to his lips. He peeked around the corner and tiptoed-er, floated- into the room, and when deeming it was safe, waved me in after him. I was about to ask what that was for, because I didn't see anything in the room, but Marshall clapped his hand over my mouth. I was too surprised to move it because right at that moment there was a really loud snore. I followed my eyes to where Marshall was pointing a creature out to me, and I would've gasped if he had not been covering my mouth.
Lying on the floor, asleep, was a 20 foot long Poisonous Viper Sting, thick and deadly. Its looks sorta like a snake, but it's so much worse. It would surely wake up if we made too much noise. Marshall just floated to the other side of the room. I required more stealth. I refused Marshall's offer of being carried across.
I took off my shoes and put them in my backpack. Then I starting tip toeing past the large creature and tried not to brush up against it as I swiftly hopped between the curls of its body. Suddenly I felt a slight pain in my leg, and I realized that I had been snagged by one of the spikes coming off of the animal's tail. It moved a bit, and I held my breath.
It went back to sleep after a few minutes and I finished getting across the room. Marshall smiled at me and I grinned in response.
"Told you I could do it," I whispered.
"Never doubted you, Bunny," he replied. We started walking again, talking about this and that, and without any sign of warning, Marshall took my hand in his, intertwining our fingers. I opened my mouth in a "O" shape, shocked at our hands together. But I didn't pull away. Friends do this, right?
We kept walking and talking like that, until we found an exit. We walked outside, no longer holding hands, and Marshall turned to me like he wanted to tell me something important. He opens his mouth to speak, then closes it again. He's totally considering telling me something. But what could it be?
He opens his mouth again.
"Wanna go chill at the treehouse?" he asks.
"Yeah, that'd be cool. Lets go, dude."
That is most definitely NOT what he really wanted to ask. I would know, we're best friends, after all.
