On Wednesday evening, the Slytherins trained on the Quidditch pitch. Evelyne had convinced us again to come along, because she could use some support. Severus and I weren't looking forward to it. It was early October and evening temperatures were already dropping below zero.

With a scarf wrapped around us as a blanket and the hat my grandmother had knitted for me, we walked onto the field. Evelyne came running towards us, overjoyed in her new uniform that was far too big for her.

"You look fantastic," I clenched my teeth, trembling from the cold.

"I'm glad you are both here to sheer me on!"

"We're not going to do that every time, though," Severus grumbled, pulling the scarf we shared closer around him so that I fell against him.

"Ouch, Sev, where's your scarf?"

"Sorry, I forgot it in the castle," he said, a blush forming on his cheeks. Evelyne grinned and walked towards her teammates.

We sat down on the stands. The wind was howling around us and we couldn't understand what Malfoy was saying to the team, but eventually they all took off and Malfoy unleashed the quaffle, two bludgers and the golden snitch . I looked at the stands around me and noted with satisfaction that the Gryffindors were not there this time.

It was apparently a good training although Severus and I didn't quite notice anything that was going on on the pitch. After a while I thought I saw something gold flicker and indeed, two seconds later Jacob and Evelyne appeared. They flew right past our heads to grab the snitch first. Severus cursed them, but they couldn't hear him because of the wind. I could only laugh and he looked at me incredulously.

After practice, we walked back towards the castle, wet, chilled to our bones from the cold, but with an incredibly happy Evelyne between us, holding the golden snitch as if it were the house cup.

The next morning, the three of us sat miserably sniffling at breakfast. I blew my nose for the umpteenth time and glanced over Severus' shoulder at the Daily Prophet to which he had recently subscribed.

"Hey, keep your bacteria to yourself, will you?"

"It's my fault, sorry," sniffed Evelyne, "maybe we should stop by Madam Pomfrey for a pepperup-potion before class." Severus and I nodded. He stuffed the newspaper into his school bag and we left in the direction of the infirmary.

Once we arrived at the hospital wing, we immediately saw that Madam Pomfrey was too busy to help us. She was running from one bed to another administering all sorts of potions and remedies to students. I wanted to turn around and come back later after classes, but then I saw a familiar face.

"Remus?"

"Hi, Lily." Remus gave me a grim smile and leaned forward to suppress a huge coughing fit.

"I see you're not in too good a shape either because of the weather," he said softly. His cheeks were sunken in, his skin an unnatural greyish colour, just like last month. I frowned, but quickly tried to clear my worried expression when he turned away from me in embarrassment.

"I'm fine." I had walked towards him and felt Severus gaze burning into my back. "We're not as bad off as you are. Do you have the flu?"

"Something like that," Remus said, but he couldn't look at me.

"Miss Evans?" I quickly walked over to Madam Pomfrey who offered me the potion and a glass of water. She had given Evelyne and Severus the same.

"I hope I don't have to remind you that it's best not to go outside in this weather." Why did she always look at us so judgementally? We nodded and obediently swallowed our pepperup-potion. I turned back to Remus and set the glass down on the nearest table.
