"Oh my god, I fucking needed this." Lany exhaled deeply as she stepped off the airplane and into the hot, humid air of southern Italy. She spoke out loud to no one, rewarding her an odd look from an elderly couple that was also unboarding, but she didn't let that bother her. This summer was about her and doing what she wanted to do. And worrying about what strangers thought about her wasn't on the list.
Lany had decided to take the summer off from her normal life and travel abroad. She'd always wanted to see Europe and having an ocean between her and her boyfriend — ex boyfriend — Lukas, was necessary right now. Their break up was fresh and borderline unofficial, so she needed the space to think.
She traveled alone and intended to spend her trip that way, she'd even sold her car back home in order to pay for her room for two months. She told herself she'd worry about money later and just enjoy the sunshine for as long as she could.
