Once upon a time, there lived four sisters, they were named Iris, Arpina, Eve and Krystal. They lived comfortably with their mother. One day, their mother got really sick and had to stay in bed. Since only their mother supported them, one of them had to find a job. They decided since Iris is very good at baking, she would apply for a baking job while Aprina, Krystal and Eve helped their mother.
Iris's first week went by fairly easy. The owner of the shop had an accident and could not open it any longer and had to sell. She was just baking when one of her boss's family members came in, handed her money for the week and said "Finish this and then leave, you're fired." "Please! No! My family needs this job! I beg you! My mother is sick and I have 3 siblings to take care of!" but she replied "Well, that's not my problem" There was no sympathy in his voice whatsoever. She sulked sadly back to the house and wondered how they were going to survive without food.
She went home and told Arprina, Krystal and Eve what happened. They went to their rooms and slept. They had a long day, it was dusk, and they were very tired and needed rest. Why?
They all had the same dream, that a fairy appeared and told them that only the lotus flower can heal their mother, but it can't be any ordinary lotus, it had to be a cyan lotus. The fairy gave them instructions on how to get there, which is on the top of the tallest mountain, near where they lived. There is a pond with only one lotus, and it is very rare because it only grows every ten thousand years and will cure any disease.
It is difficult because of the four you have to pass in order to get there. The tests are: the test of Compassion, the test of Intelligence and the test of Honesty. The moment the fairy finished the instructions, they woke up, startled. They went to check on their mother and saw that she didn't have much time left.
They set foot for the mountain immediately after discussing what to pack, and what they thought was necessary was bandages, sandwiches, compass, clothes, rope and lighter for their journey and asked a distant family member to help take care of her. They moved up the mountain quite easily until they arrived where the first test takes place, which is the test of Compassion.
There was a family of lions with their cub growling at them ferociously but Iris could see the cub was in agony and said "Hey little guy, are you okay?" The other three sisters looked at her as if she was nuts. The cub whimpered as if saying no. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you." The cub looked at her curiously and carefully crept towards her. Since Iris had packed bandages, she taped the bandage on to the cub's wound. He licked her face happily. The family of lions then moved away from the path and nodded as if giving permission.
They moved on and then they came to the second test, the test of Honesty. The serpent slided from the bushes. "If you wissssh to passsss, you musssst ansssswer in honesssty" hissed the serpent. Eve stepped up, for she knew her siblings were terrified of serpents or all snakes basically. "Why do you want to passsss?" He asked. "We are on a journey to save our mother, for she is sick and does not have much time left." The serpent eyed her suspiciously but he said "you may passsss." He looks for the truest of the hearts and since they didn't have bad intentions, he let them through. His job was to look for pure hearts and a lot of myths say the lotus will bring wealth and luck.
He still didn't believe her though so he tasked them to find a rare flower named chocolate cosmo and bring it back to him. They searched the forest blindly because they were told nothing about the flower except how it looks and smells, which is dark reddish brown and smells like strawberry chocolate. The reason is it was rare and delicious and is one of a kind. Then, they saw a cute little squirrel looking at them with curiosity and the girls waved to the squirrel but it quickly ran away. They saw the squirrel left something behind and were surprised because the squirrel had the flower they were looking for. The girls happily walked toward the serpent again and gave the flower to the serpent. He inspected the flower to make sure it was the real thing and not a fake replacement.
The serpent didn't let them pass though, as the cunning creature it is and came up with another idea. "You must go to the top of the mountain to seek the precious pearl from the hydra and bring it back to me but if you fail, you will never continue on the path and save your mother. MUAHAHAHA!" The serpent slithered into the bushes and left the siblings annoyed and angry. They wanted to get back to their mother but being angry is not going to help their situation so they left the path and left for the mountain.
At night, the siblings were tired soon after and started to set a camp up for the night. They woke up early in the morning and continued to the hydra's den. After a while, they realized that the farther they went, the more silent it was which gave the siblings goosebumps. They reached the den soon and went inside. In it, a voice spoke "Hello strangers, what brings you to my den?" the voice asked, friendly. "Well, we were hoping to take a precious pearl for a serpent because we need to save our mother." They told the hydra the whole story and the dragon felt sympathy for them so he gave them a test. The hydra told them that at the end of the hall, there is a pearl priceless and to get to the pearl, you need to cross fire but if you are pure of heart, you can't get hurt.
The siblings looked at each other and held hands. They decided to pretend the fire wasn't real, so they kept repeating that it was not real and crossed the fire and went back. They saw that they were not injured and sighed with relief. They took it and looked at it. One said "Guys, why not just go back and take the pearl with us? Then, we don't have to work or live in poverty anymore! We can also afford a doctor to look at our mother! Why give it to the serpent?" Another one said "No! We should give it back to the serpent so we can continue with our path!" The others agreed with her and the first one grumbled fine. They went back to the serpent and the serpent said they could pass.
The journey continued without any problems until the dog came into sight. They wondered why a dog was out here in the wild until she said, "Welcome strangers. What business do you have today?" "We are looking for a cure to save our mother." "If you wish to continue, you must answer this riddle: I threw a baseball as hard as I could, and it came back without anyone near him. "The answer is that he was lying on the ground and when you throw the ball, it goes back down because of gravity."
"Good" she said, "Next riddle: What is better than heaven, worse than hell, what poor people have and rich people crave for?" "Nothing," she replied, "Nothing is better than heaven, and worse than hell. Poor people have nothing, and the rich crave for nothing." "Last and final riddle: How much ink do you need to pour into an empty well to make it not empty?" "One drop of ink, because if you add a drop, it's no longer empty." The dog let them pass looking impressed.
They went inside a cave where there was a locked door and they had to unlock the door with a three number code. The sisters wondered how they should guess the numbers when one of the sisters, Krystal, found something. It said that if they wish to pass, they must pick the right combination of numbers or else they will suffocate without air.
The siblings were hesitant to choose right away so they looked around and found clues. Clue #1: Three blue birds were on a wire and two pink ones on the hydro, if two blue birds left the wires, how many birds are left? The siblings questioned amongst themself. "Is this supposed to be a tricky question? It's literally three minus two which is one." said Asprina, "so we know the first digit is one." "Okay so next Clue: There were five blue clouds, two green clouds and three orange clouds. If two orange clouds float away, how many clouds are left?" Iris read. "Five plus two plus three equals ten and subtract two equals eight." "Third clue: five sheep were being led by a shepherd and a wolf appeared. He ate three sheep and ran away. How many are left?" "Five minus three is two, so the answer is two!"
Eve pressed 182 and the door opened. Inside was a lake with the magnificent lotus, and they quickly rushed over. They saw an exit so the siblings grabbed the lotus and quickly rushed out of the cave. They reached home relatively quickly and quickly made soup. They quickly fed their mother and laid her back in the bed. The mother got better and was grateful that they set out the journey to save her and lived happily ever after.
