"Can't not think of all the cost
And the things that will be lost
Oh, can we just get a pause?
To be certain we'll be tall again
Whether weather be the frost
Or the violence of the dog days
I'm on waves, out being tossed
Is there a line that I could just go cross?"

-Evermore, by Taylor Swift

Life was not what Arya Windbrooke had expected after the death of the only person whom she swore to love forever. Her mother had been the light in her darkness, the sole path away from the sadness she had ever known. So she vowed to herself never to love so intensely again, and why not, never to love at all.
She swore off boys and close friendships, promising to some unknown being from above that she would never let herself get hurt again. Meanwhile, in another part of London, a young man drowning in whiskey struggled every day to cling to that very same promise.
Neither of them knew that they wouldn't succeed.
