The school cafeteria buzzed with the chatter of students, the air thick with the scent of cafeteria food and the promise of a much-needed break from the rigors of academia. Aaron, his trademark silver hair catching the light as he moved through the crowd, settled into his usual spot at a table in the corner, surrounded by his friends.

"So, who's up for a game of cards?" Aaron asked, his voice bright with enthusiasm as he pulled a deck from his backpack.

His friends, a motley crew of misfits and outcasts, eagerly gathered around, their faces alight with excitement. For a moment, the worries of the world faded away as they lost themselves in the simple pleasure of a friendly game.

But as they laughed and joked, a strange sensation washed over Aaron, a prickling at the back of his neck that sent shivers down his spine. He glanced around the cafeteria, his eyes scanning the crowd for any sign of trouble, but everything seemed normal.

And then, without warning, Ron slumped forward, his body collapsing onto the table in a heap. Panic rippled through the group as they rushed to his side, but Ron lay motionless, his eyes glazed over and unseeing.

"What's happening?" someone cried, their voice trembling with fear.

But before anyone could respond, another student fell to the ground, followed by another and another until the cafeteria was filled with the sound of bodies hitting the floor. Aaron's heart pounded in his chest as he struggled to make sense of what was happening, his mind racing with a thousand different possibilities.

And then, as suddenly as it had begun, it was over. The cafeteria fell silent, the only sound the ragged breathing of those still conscious. Aaron looked around in horror, his mind reeling from the shock of what had just occurred.

But as he surveyed the scene before him, a single thought pierced the fog of confusion. This was no accident. Someone had orchestrated this, someone who had been watching them, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

And as Aaron met the gaze of his friends, he knew that they were all thinking the same thing. They were being hunted, and whoever was behind this was playing for keeps.
