I sit in the lobby, alone and scared. People walk passed me, not many taking notice. I look at each of them, scanning their faces. Someone offered to meet me, and I found out through a note on my bed. I would ask how it got there, but I have no idea who it is. A young woman sits opposite me, smiling, and asks, "Do you want answers?"
I nod, and she holds out her hand, saying, "The name is Kit Snicket. I agreed to come back on Thursday, but oh well. I'll leave after this. What do you want to know?"
Kit looks at me and smiles, and I sigh, "My mum has told me everything. I just want to know one thing. Am I a bad person?"
"People aren't all wicked," Kit gets up, "I'm sorry, look at the lobby. It's abandoned. I'll see you around, Leilani Gigi."
I watch her leave, and gasp as two and a half people walk into the lobby. It's dark outside, so I can't see Kit- Hold on, two and a half?

I stand up, and smile, saying, "Baudelaires! Oh, Baudelaires, hello!"
Violet gasps, looking over at me. She smiles, and walks over to me, hugging me. I pause, before hugging her back. She gasps, "Leilani, thank you."
"For what?" I ask, pulling away. She holds my hands in hers, and sighs, "For being like a friend."
"I would like to be your friend, all of you," I say, "But I've done too much to you for it to work out. I'm sorry, but I know to be your friend I would have to cut people out of my life, and I'm not ready to cut these people out my life. Mum... well, she is my mum, and as much as Carmelita can do my head in, I'm all she really has. Just, promise me that once you are safe, you will try contact me?"
Klaus walks over and says, "We would be your friend even if you kept those people in your life. I think family is important. And, we promise to make sure to find you once this is all safe. Oh, you might know something we need. Who is J S?"
The doors of the hotel swing open, and a woman's voice carries through the lobby. We all turn to look at her, and I take a step back as the Baudelaires all run to hug her. I look up at the clock, and groan. Mum made me promise I'd be back by then. I turn on my heel, sprinting up the stairs and begging silently to make it before they realise. As quietly as I can, I click open the door, and breathe a sigh of relief when I realise nobody is in there. Or so I think. Slowly, I walk through the suite, groaning as Mum and Olaf sit on their separate beds. I freeze as Mum asks, "What time do you call this? I am disgusted. Leilani Gigi, I trusted you-"
"Trust does nothing," Olaf snaps, "Where were you?"
"I was..." I hesitate, "Elsewhere. Wandering round, aimless. Why? I mean, it's only ten o clock now, and that isn't too late... Mum, I'm sorry. Olaf... olaf."
"We've done too much for this," Olaf snaps, "I killed Monty, Josephine... more people. I'm sorry, I've forgotten their names. You had Carmi worried sick!"
I hear Carmi's scream of delight from the other room, and I raise my eyebrows. Olaf sighs, "Okay, maybe not worried sick, but she wanted to talk to you. I want you to be okay."
"No you don't," I scoff, "You've never cared about me. You don't even like me-"
"I still want you to be alright," Olaf snaps.
"You don't like me!" I raise my voice, "I feel like you hate me-"
"I LOVE YOU LIKE MY DAUGHTER! WHY DO YOU THINK I WORK HARD TO KEEP YOU SAFE? I WANT YOU TO BE OKAY!"

Mum looks at me, her eyes wide, and I ask, "You... you love me like a daughter?"
My jaw is dropped open, and Olaf storms passed me. I wipe tears from my eyes, and Mum sighs, "Olaf can't do anything but be foolish. Carmelita? Come on, we're following your father."
Carmi stumbles out the other room, her mouth a huge smile. I can't help but smile a little as she squeals, "There is a spinney chair in our room! It is so fun!"
Mum opens the door of the room, and Carmi and I sprint to follow her. She rants, "I swear, Olaf is going to die if he continues like this."
Eventually, we storm to the outside of the hotel, and Carmi gasps, "Who wants to see me hit a cake sniffer with my harpoon?"
I look at the Baudelaires and the tall young man stood next to them. I'm tired, and don't understand what people are saying. The man says, "You are a capable woman. You could do so much, Esme. Raise your daughters safely."
Olaf scoffs, "Hand over the sugar bowl or this adorable little girl will harpoon you."
Carmi snaps, "I wont do that until Countie teaches me to spit."
Olaf storms over to Carmi, and yells, "I WILL NEVER TEACH YOU TO SPIT, AS LONG AS I LIV-AH."
He snatches the harpoon out of Carmi's grip, and she runs over to mum, her eyes welling. Mum demands, "Apologise to our darling little girl right now."
"She is not darling," Olaf scoffs, "She is a spoiled brat. The only person I see as even a slight bit of my daughter is Leilani, and that is only because she stays out of my way. That brat you call your adorable little girl does nothing but get in my way. The only reason I didn't kick her out ages ago is because Leilani could control her."
Mum is stunned, as Olaf continues, "I am tired of pretending to be a family, and I am tired of having a girlfriend who undermines my authority."
"You would have our fortune if Esme stayed away," Violet quips, "You'd be rich, and we would be dead."
Olaf points the harpoon gun at the Baudelaires, "No, those orphans have a point. I would be rich, and they would be dead. You've never cared about me, Esme. You only care about the sugar bowl, free acting lessons and what is in and out."
"I'll tell you what is out," Mum scoffs, walking over to Olaf, "Being constantly unappreciated by a man whose pant leg doesn't even cover his ankle is OUT. Being stuck playing second banana in a series of increasingly ludicrous schemes in increasingly remote locations. Extremely OUT. I think you're going to love this one, darling. Losing, time and again to three orphaned children? Look at them. They're not even old enough to rent a tuxedo, and yet, they beat you every SINGLE TIME. THAT IS THE OUTTEST THING OF ALL."
Olaf smiles, "You're fired. And I'm breaking up with you. Bye bye."
"You.. really want me out of your life?" Mum asks, her eyes watering. Olaf nods, and Mum begins to walk off, taking Carmi's hand. I look between Olaf and mum, as she asks, "Are you coming, Leilani?"
Olaf holds out his hand, and I whisper, "You dumped my mum. I... don't get yourself killed... Countie."
I watch Olaf's face drop, and I sigh, "Goodbye, Baudelaires. Remember what you promised me. I'm sorry."
