2. Cherish

Aera's pov

"We're home!" I shout from the living room , both talking off our shoes and walking in.

"Oh sweetie your ho-JAKE?!" Mrs.sim stands there shocked seeing her son after a year . "Hey beautiful lady" jakes walks towards her giving her a hug while i keep standing and smile at the heart warming scene of a son and mother reunion. I wish mr.sim was here too , its been 8 years since he went missing . Reminds me off the time of a happy family , just like mine. Tears starts pooling in eyes but i quickly hold them back.

She cups jakes face with her palms , and he's just widely smiling " oh my dear son , how much i missed you , thank god your back now" she says almost crying . "Hey, dont cry now , shouldnt you be happy eomma? " he chuckles wiping away the tear that just fell.

"You know its a great occasion to celebrate, but im afraid i have to go work , today's weekend and the café is crowded once again"she says sighing but suddenly jake puts his arm around both of our shoulders and says "well since im back , let me lend you a hand , and im being nice only this one time , because i swear mom if you kick my ass for not working and praise this little shortie here , im gonna steal that money you've been hiding beneath the counter"

Jake gives a smug look to his mother who widens her eyes and smacks him hard on his arm.

"You know what me and Aera can work alone just fine , no need to lEnD Us a HAnd anymore " she mimics him and rolls her eyes while i laugh my ass off seeing how shocked jake is 'cause of his sassy mother . We both walk away and hear a voice behind us "yah! It isnt fair , wait for me at least , you guys are so mean" he's whining again . Me and mrs.sim just giggle.

Jakes pov

After giving almost all the orders me and Aera finally sit behind the counter , emitting a sigh cause of how tired we are. "How many order's?" She says with her eyes closed . " 54" i reply while chuckling as her eyes shot , staring at mine with her wide eyes. " In just 2 hours?! Oh my god" she slides down in her chair , and i just shake my head.

"Anyways , you havent told me about your life in seoul, hows Heeseung and the rest of the gang?" She questions me. "Oh they're doing great , but kinda busy you know , new semester is about to start after a month or two but still having fun" she passes me sulking face " i cant wait to go to college".

"Tch! What a sorcery that you passed the exam and not me in our first try , eventhough im more smarter than you" she says giving me a judging look.

Well i aint sitting there listening to her rant , i turn around in my chair completely facing her " you know what shortie , i guess im more lucky than you , cause no matter what im always winning , after all im the sim jaeyun" poking the inside of my cheek with my tongue , clearly visible how proud i am. She just imitates me , irritated by my behavior causing me to giggle.

Minutes pass , while scrolling on our phones she suddenly pulls me by my arm pulling me closer to her and before i could react my face is just inches away from her causing me to hold my breath .

"Jake, take a look at this" she tugs further on my shirt , causing me to snap out of my thoughts and look at her phone.

"This unknown number has been bursting my phones with notifications eventhough i blocked it many times , and surprisingly they know my name and they keep talking about murder and stuff and im definitely creeped out" she tells me with worry etched over her face.

Cliché tsk tsk too cliché "that's actually really cliché for someone to do something like that , but I'll look into it for you scaredy-cat" i take his opportunity to tease her but instead she flicks my forehead.

"You know what im so done with you for me hitting me for the nth time this day , give me that" i snatch her phone from her while she attempts to grab it . " hey! Give that back"

"Oh yeah? Fine then take it" she jumps as high as she can but fails.

"Hahaha! Shortie" at this point i cant stop myself from laughing seeing her tiny figure trying to snatch her phone being all grumpy.

"You brat! Im gonna kill you" . "Oh shi-" i run outside the café as fast as i can when she almost hits me again.

Authors pov.

Running down the pavement , both laughing and yelling at eachother , notifying the whole town that now the duo is back together, there would be no peaceful evenings for them.

Aera's pov

Reaching the field jake stops trying to catch his breath and looks like he'll pass out any second.

"Fine , i give up , damn the athlete you are" he passes me my phone while panting heavily. " you look like you can run another mile right now"

"Whatever, jerk" i roll my eyes at him and we both lay down on the grass to take a break.

The twilight sky above our heads and the waxing crescent now visible while we stare at it.

"Pretty isn't it?"

"It sure is ..... indeed pretty" jake says and i turn to the side , only to find him already looking at me.

Smiling we continuing staring at each other forgetting that a world exists , a few minutes pass and i blurt out "wanna pull an all nighter?" briskly turning my gaze towards the sky.

"S-sure" he replies back knowing fully well how red our faces are right now. Oh gosh what the hell was i even doing.

"Uncle sim would've been so happy to see you in college all grown up " i dont know why but I suddenly say that to him.

He sits up looking ahead of him as the topic catches him off guard but he gives a sad smile "yeah" is all he can manage to say as his eyes become moist yet they look hollow.

Regretting what i said i mentally curse myself and sit up facing him. "Im sorry , I shouldn't have said that , oh god what the heck is wrong with me today"

"Its alright besides , i've got a great mother and a bestfriend" he looks at me giving me a warm smile. "Awww" and i give him a bear hug.

"But she can me a maniac sometimes" and..... i push him back smacking him on his head." You ungrateful brat!"

"Ow! Ow! Ok ok fine sorry " he says all annoyed complaining like a child."lets go mum's gonna be mad, if we're late and besides we need to get stuff for the all nighter."

I agree with him and stand up . We make it out of the fields when i feel like someone following us , i turn around to look here and there and get to notice a shadow running away. Not gonna lie it kinda creeps me out , but i shrug it off since i've seen enough kids pulling pranks every other day or maybe it was just a bakery thief.

Oh wait ! A mischievous idea popping up in my mind , i look towards jake smugly smiling at him.

"What?" He looks at me confused. "You know what jake..." i start to walk backwards " last to reach your room , will buy a coupon for snacks for a month!" And with that i turn around and start running.

"Yah! Thats unfair , YAH! CHOI AERA!" he yells while whining and starts running behind me while i just laugh at his childish behavior.

Third persons pov

Reckless and all happy they could be leaving the world far behind, living in the moment full of love and memories to cherish. But will they be and happy and reckless for the rest of their lives , or will misery will turn their world upside down and burn the petals leaving nothing but ashes......
