THE COLD AIR blew onto Auyera's pale shoulders as goosebumps appeared on her bare arms and legs, a small hand tapped her shoulder as she turned herhead slightly to see her brother, Calder.
"Now what are you doing out here so late, hm?" She asks, sweetness evident in her tone as she picks the small boy up from under his arms and places him on her right leg hugging him from behind.
"Pa said to come inside for dinner!" The 4 year old said happily as he hugged his sister tightly
"Alright, tell him I'll be in soon; now you need to get inside before you get sick hm?" She says as she kisses his forehead
The boy nods as he jumps up and runs back inside.

I stare at Calder as his short legs carry him back inside, I sigh as I run my fingers through my hair; I lift myself up and shout
"IM COMING INSIDE NOW" before putting on my fluffy slippers and stepping inside.
My brother and father sat on the dinner table across from each other and my empty chair, I walk by sitting down as my father gets up and starts to serve us dinner.
"What are we having?" I ask as I start to set up the table pouring some water in our glasses, juice is Calders.
"Lobster pasta." My dad says smiling brightly; I stare confused
"But—Lobster is so expensive! You need the money for your medicine, pa you cant spend money on these things! Your health comes first!" I huffed before he gives me a weak smile
"Auyera, tomorrow is the reaping—you need a full stomach for tonight since you never eat the morning of. And anyways; you both need to be fed properly, now eat up!" My father says before plating up all our food.
I sigh into my food, I smile at the taste—my fathers food is the best! It's delicious, though usually I cook because I don't want my pa to be tired; he faints sometimes and it's expensive to go to the hospital.
