I live in Ohio so back in 2017 The eclipse for us was only partial (maybe like 50% give or take). Nothing like I experienced just a few days ago. It was absolutely mind blowing.
I had to work at 4 so I went in an hour early so I could borrow glasses from my coworkers (cause I forgot to get a pair). We switched on and off so I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but since I saw most of the 2017 partial eclipse that part wasn't all that new. It slowly but surely started getting darker and darker outside. Temperature also began to cool as well.
It didn't get totally dark though, not like pitch black. More like just after the sun goes down and it starts to get dark. When Totality took over the birds went crazy and the ring was finally visible. It was really cool to see and it lasted a good 3 to 4 minutes. Once it started to move away it was almost like a spot light was shining down at first and then it slowly got brighter and as quick as it came it was gone.
Unfortunately, my camera sucks so I couldn't get any pictures of it, but some of my friends and family sent me a few. I'll add those pictures for you all to see.
How was your experience, lmk in the comments? 😁
