*Emma's POV*The first two weeks of us being here were pretty boring. I still wasn't allowed to get out of the house, so they made sure someone was with me everyday.
It was really nice weather outside, so they mostly just went to the beach. Rosie and Millie were totally in love with the beach.
I had to go to the hospital for a check up yesterday, and everything was fine. They told me that I was recovering well and from tomorrow I would be able to do everything again, including leaving the house! Most of the time, it was mom who stayed home with me, so I had made it a thing to talk to the baby every time that we were alone. I know dad told me not to make mom cry, but I'm not making her cry, anymore. She's warmed up to the baby. She told me that it was working what I was doing and I should continue. She's still not thrilled about being pregnant, but she does love this baby, as much as she loves her other kids, and that's all that matters. She wants to protect this kid from all hardships and pain and that's exactly what I wanted for her. To want this baby to be happy and have a mother who loves it.
I hadn't really spoken to dad a lot, since that incident in the kitchen. It's not like I was ignoring him, we just didn't talk that much. He was mostly busy with the kids, keeping them busy, taking them outside and stuff like that. And I was mostly being a couch potato.
We did always eat dinner together, but I just didn't start a conversation with him and he didn't either, so we just didn't really talk.
Matt, obviously, realized it and asked me what was wrong. That kid always realizes everything. It's scary. It was Millie's birthday last week and we had a small party for her. I can't believe she's already three years old. I remember when she was just born.
Thinking of that, it's gonna be my parents and sisters first death anniversary tomorrow. We are gonna go to the graveyard and visit their graves.
I don't know if I'm supposed to be looking forward to it, or not, but I'm not really.
Apart from the funeral, we'd only been there twice. Once, about a month after they died and the second time, when the adoption was finalized.
I don't like it there. I know, it's the closest I can get to them and a lot of people find comfort by the graves of their loved ones, but I don't. They're in my mind every day and I talk to them in my mind. I don't need to be by their graves to be able to talk to them. They're watching over me, also when I'm not at the graveyard. I was, obviously, still gonna go, because I just felt like I need to go. I need to be there, because it's just part of life. Even though they're with me the whole time, that's still a special place where I can connect with them.My phone, shook me out of my thought. I was in my bedroom and mom was resting, while the rest of the family was out.
"Hey Mads" I smiled, as I answered the phone. I haven't talked to her in ages.
"Hey tiger. How are you?"
"I'm good, you?"
"Me too. So, you enjoying it?"
"So far, I haven't done that much of enjoying, since I've been stuck inside, but I'll start enjoying tomorrow"
"I still can't believe you guys didn't tell us" she said.
Mom, dad and Maddie only found out about the operation after we already left. They were so pissed that we didn't tell them."It slipped our minds, Maddie. Just let it go"
"Slipped your minds, Emma? Seriously? That was surgery, you had. Not just a shot or something. You had surgery. It was dangerous. And you didn't even tell us. We're your family, we are supposed to know what goes on in your life, especially when it's something big, like appendicitis"
"Okay, okay, I get it. Now drop the subject, I don't wanna talk about it"
"Okay, so I was actually gonna say this tomorrow, but I can't, cause mom's taking me somewhere and I have no idea where and she won't tell me, but she did tell me that I won't have a phone there, so I called you now, instead of tomorrow"
