She had just wished her parents and grandma (who came with to see her only grandchild go to hogwarts) goodbye when she heard someone call her name. She was pretty sure she didn't know anyone here but her head shot in the direction of the yell. She saw a blonde girl hug a redheaded girl and she assumed no one was calling her so she walked onto the train and found an empty compartment.

She started planning a giant prank to pull since it was her first year even if she was a 5th year.  After about five minutes of quiet planning the compartment door opened. Lily looked up from her notebook and saw the blonde and redhead she saw hugging earlier standing in the doorway "hello" the redhead started "can we sit here everywhere else is full" Lily couldn't find a good reason for them not to so she told them they could and went back to her planning making sure nobody saw any of her plans

"I'm Lily and that's Marlene" the redhead told the brunette. Her head immediately shot up and she looked at Lily

"My name is also Lily" she told the redheaded Lily "you can call me El though so it's not confusing"

"OK nice to meet you El" Lily told El "are you new?"

"Ya I'm in 5th year but I transferred from ilvermory" El told the two girls

"OH cool, that's amazing. What's it like there?" Marlene asked the brunette

"Well it was ok I was a thunderbird along with my friend Sarah and her sister Cathy, there are 4 houses said to represent the whole witch or wizard the mind is represented by Horned Serpent; the body, Wampus; the heart, Pukwudgie and the soul, Thunderbird. Others say that Horned Serpent favours scholars, Wampus, warriors, Pukwudgie, healers and Thunderbird, adventurers." El explained

"We have 4 houses too" Marlene exclaimed "Griffindor, hufflepuff, ravenclaw, and slytherin, both of us are in griffindor"

"Well I hope I'm in griffindor with you" El said

The compartment door opened and a girl of average height, dark black eyes and dark brown curly hair that went down to her shoulders, entered the compartment "Hi I'm Dorcas" she said to El

"I'm Lily but you can call me El" El told her

"Dorcas nice of you to join us" Marlene said pulling Dorcas next to her

Time skip

They made it to the school and El had to go on the boats while the others went on carriages. El had to share a boat with afew first years who were very observant and loved asking alot of personal questions

"Where did you get those scars?" One of them whose name was Alexis asked

"I fell I'm very clumsy" El answered hoping no one could tell she was lying

"My birthday was last week and my parents gave me an owl" another girl whose name was emery said. She liked making everything about her and when she couldn't she would change the topic

Finally they could leave the boats and get sorted.

Time skip

The sorting started and El was scared to see what house she was in. She really hoped she was in griffindor with Lily and Marlene. Dorcas was also a griffindor

"Barlowe Lily" as her name was called she walked up and put the hat on her head

Everyone around whispered stuff like 'she's not a first year' or 'what are those scars about'

"Quiet" Dumbledore called and everyone quieted down "Lily recently transferred from ilvermory and will be joining us as a 5th year student" he explained then the Sorting continued

"Ah a little older than the others" the Sorting hat said "a thunderbird at ilvermory would be a good slytherin, oh but you have friends in griffindor. Let's see better be GRIFFINDOR"

El sat down next to Lily at the griffindor table everyone at the table cheering as she sat down

The announcements this year where few but the one that stuck out to El was the Yule ball
