Forbidden Love

I have tasted the fruit of forbidden Love,
We thought no one knew but the gods watched from above.
I was a princess and he was a knight,
Just one look at eachother and it was love at first sight.

In the royal garden we met everyday,
In our own little world we both will stay,
Just to meet him I'd say soo many lies,
And we both met sneaking from the kingdom's eyes.

As usual we were kissing and were engrossed,
Didn't realised when my father entered and the door he crossed,
The king looked angry as hell,
And I thought this situation isn't gonna be well.
He called the soldiers on my knight,
And I cried as they dragged him out of my sight.

The king called a meeting which was very intense,
In which he announced my knight to be given death sentence.
The kingdom denied and shouted to get him out from behind the bars,
"Without our brave knight we wouldn't survive any wars."

My father said to the kingdom vast,
"The knight would be given a chance last,"
"He'll prove himself to me in the upcoming days three,
And if he's worthy I'll set him free."

Within 3 days the king planned my wedding,
He didn't listen when I started yelling and crying.
With the neighbouring prince he had me paired,
I started to deny, but he has already declared.

The night before wedding came soon,
I was praying while looking at the moon.
I sneaked out to where my knight was in,
I felt happy with him so I didn't thought it's a sin.
I told him about the wedding and he winced,
Because of the mention of the neighbouring Prince.
He said "to our Kingdom he is a threat,"
"Go stop your father before it's too late."
"And remember even though it's forbidden, our love is true,"
"No matter what, I'll never regret loving you."
Tears framed my eyes as I kissed him like it's our last,
He embraced me tightly before telling me to run fast.

I ran as fast as I can but it was too late,
The enemy was standing right in front of our gate.
They wanted our kingdom to fall and break,
And my father did a very big mistake.
My knight had the information we all lacked,
And because of it our kingdom was now attacked.

Two guards protected me and dragged me out,
"I won't leave without him" I started to shout.
But they dragged me out anyway,
Bought me to a safe place and asked me to stay.
But I took the dagger from under my gown,
Stood beside my father and started to take the enemy down.

The cell of our castle was blasted where my knight was,
I screamed as my eyes witnessed my sudden loss.
I ran towards my knight muttering "it can't be true!"
I shouted,"oh my love where are you?."
Suddenly the cold weather became warmer,
Because behind me stood my knight in shining armor.
He came out from wherever he was caged,
And the prince was terrified from his boiling rage.

My knight pleaded,"go somewhere to where it is safe my princess."
I denied,"no love, we'll together get out of this mess."
We fought together with the soldiers along,
We won because we were right and they were wrong.

With great respect the king bowed and said,
"Dear daughter, I was wrong, your knight indeed is brave and great."
"I have been a cruel fool,"
"I will change the kingdom's rule."

There will be no more secrets, no more lies,
I saw my future when I looked into my knight's eyes.
He bent on one knee and asked, "will you marry me, my princess?"
I replied,"of course my love, how couldn't I say yes."
