11. Too Sweet

I practically rushed out of the elevator, though I slowed my pace as I approached the exit. I didn't want to seem too eager, even though my heart was racing with anticipation.

When I spotted him standing there, gazing up at the night sky, my breath caught in my throat. He's so pretty...

Clearing my throat, I approached him. "Hey, sorry I took so long," I apologized with a sheepish smile. Henri's unwelcome interruption had delayed me, but there was no need for Cyrille to know that.

He turned to face me, his smile brightening at the sight of me. "It's fine. If you had been any later, I might have come up to fetch you myself," he joked, though there was a hint of sincerity in his tone.

I giggled softly, my cheeks turning a slight pinkish hue from blush. I can't believe I'm finally getting dinner with the man of my dreams!

"So, shall we?" he asked, extending his hand to me.

"We shall," I replied, slipping my hand into his, walking side by side toward the waiting car, where the driver and Lucas were patiently waiting.

Just as the driver was about to open the door, Cyrille stopped him and pulled out another set of car keys from his pocket.

"No, I'll bring her myself. You guys can take the other car," he said casually, tossing the keys to the driver before opening the passenger's side door for me.

"After you, my lady," he quipped, his charm melting my heart once again. Dang it, he really knows how to make me melt and feel like a princess.

Lucas sighed and rolled his eyes, trying his best to ignore his annoyance from his boss's antics. But with a glare from Cyrille, he backed down and let the two lovebirds have their time together.

Did he just leave his bodyguard and driver and make them take another car just because he wanted to be alone with his angel? Yes, yes he did.

I settled into the passenger seat of his Mercedes S-Benz while he took the driver's seat. As I fastened my seatbelt, he glanced at me with a smile.

"What?" I smiled back at him, suddenly feeling shy under his gaze.

"Nothing. You're just really pretty," he remarked casually before starting the engine.

His words left me speechless, my eyes widening in surprise, my cheeks flushing color. He certainly knew how to catch me off guard. I don't think I've ever blushed this much in such a short amount of time. And yet, he did it with ease.

The drive was filled with an unspoken tension, punctuated by stolen glances exchanged between us. He couldn't seem to resist peeking at me through the rearview mirror, his smirk growing every time our eyes met.

My heart pounded in my chest, and the fluttering in my stomach threatened to overwhelm me.

"Where are we going?" I finally broke the silence, unable to bear the suspense any longer.

"You'll see," he replied cryptically, his expression giving away nothing about our destination.

I noticed the city fading into the distance as we ventured further away, the road becoming quieter until it was just us, the moonlight, and the car's beams slicing through the darkness. Normally, this would have set off alarm bells, but with him, I felt strangely at ease, trusting him to take me wherever he pleased.

Was it smart? No. Was it a risky move? Definitely.

After what felt like an eternity, we arrived at a clearing nestled deep in the mountains. The darkness was enveloping, with only the moonlight and the car's headlights guiding our way.
