—A lot of these scenes/monsters are based on my night terrors, or parts of them strung together. Therefore, they might not be scary to everyone. That seems like a bit of a failure as someone who was writing this as a horror/thriller apocalypse story. I'm sorry about that!
—This is unedited. I'll probably go back and edit it soon but I wanted to get it published before the deadline of the contest. As such, there might be some bad spelling. Grammar I don't worry as much about as this is written in first-person POV (obvious punctuation errors, yes, but I like making the narration seem somewhat natural), but if you see mistakes in grammar or spelling, feel free to call me out on them. This was mostly written when I couldn't sleep late at night, so I'm sure you'll find some
—This is a contest entry, so it's only 8847 words despite the amount of chapters.
—I'm not that experienced in writing action or suspense, so any advice will be much appreciated.
—This story is written taking place in Tokyo. As such, Japanese honorifics are used. For those who aren't familiar, -san is similar in respect to Mister or Miss (but used more often than we do these terms in English), -chan is a cutesy honorific usually for children or girls (can be used for guys especially if the relationship is more familial, it's just less common), and -kun is commonly used for people younger than you or for male friends (it's kinda like "bro", but put on the end of a name instead).
—Please read with care even if you don't read the spoilery content warnings, I realize some of the content can be triggering for some
—This is my first original work in a while (I've been writing a lot of fanfic, partially because of my invasive interest in a specific fandom but also because I've been trying to practice keeping characters consistent using it as a tool). I'm not sure the next time I'll be posting an original work on this account or if I'll expand on this idea
—I almost gave myself a panic attack writing this :D

[SOMEWHAT SPOILERY TRIGGER WARNINGS]

Heavy trigger warnings here for content involving death (including that of a child) and suicide topics mainly, as well as depictions of characters' headspaces resembling panic attacks and such. Also maybe don't read if you have arachnophobia, there's some real spidery stuff.
