Let me take you back on a stroll in rewind

six decades back, we pause on this find

the air is drizzled with tension indeed

a nationless unity looking forward to lead

a man in black graced the path with his walk

the crowd numbed, waiting for him to talk

valor n wisdom bring words of hope

the listeners awed, clinging to the rope

spiriting high, they dream of a kingdom

crazed in joy on the verge of freedom

but this was not just said and done

bloodshed n treachery were astray on the run

massacre of life made a child's play

vices awakened, ordering to slay

every single voice that was heard

ended up silenced without a word

a blood curdling scream stabbed the silence

as a mother saw her child being charred in violence

echoes of pain and tears of blood

people being martyred in this gulping flood

a man plunges to death leaving to drown

evading capture from the ruthless crown

burying lives alive was their flair

the passer-buys torn, stopping to stare

gallant were those who had sown this seed

determined thy were, they were meant to succeed

today no one can seep into what it cost

to erect a country we yet again lost...
