It took approximately three weeks for the 'big news' to spread like wildfire all over Rajputana ending up leading to Devansh's in-laws who belonged to a wealthy merchant family of Jodhpur with ancestral wealth spread across,

Without wasting any more of their beloved daughter's time, the merchant family sent a messenger explaining how disheartened they were to call off the marriage because of the Royal family's betrayal of Devansh's rights.

'We would have never married our daughter to anyone other than an esteemed king, let alone an orphan living in someone else's care'

Was the sentence from the letter, reading which the messenger's voice was threatened.

Rana listened to the letter from his throne, his eyes closed.

His health had started getting better and it was the third day in a row he had been sitting in the royal court.

Since this was not an issue related to the estate, the ladies of the Palace stood inside the net curtain of the court specially built for them, listening to the discussion.

Rani-sa's ears had started hurting listening to the words that so mercilessly pierced into her heart.

Eshant and Devansh sat in their respective seat.

Devansh's head was pushed down and Eshant could not help but feel a distinct type of anger running through his spine.

No matter how hard Eshant shouted, deep down he had never seen Devansh as anyone but his elder brother... His very own, elder brother.

"Please do not try to contact us any further in this regard. We have already started looking for a suitable groom. With due respect, Sagar Singh... that's all, your honor"

The messenger said putting aside the letter, his head bowed for the further orders.

"You may leave now"

Rana said.

The man did as he was asked to.

"What are we still waiting for?"

Eshant stood up with a frown on his face.

"Please sit down, Chote Chauhan"

Rana dismissed him.

He sat down with great angst.

Devansh was the only one who stood silent.

"How could they just call off the marriage all of a sudden?"

Rani-sa whispered.

Shefali turned to her standing just beside her.

Shefali did not make a remark.

"Find out who the groom is"

Rana said after considering for a while.

A soldier nodded immediately.

"Kill him on the day of the marriage, whoever he is. An insult to my son is a direct insult to me"

Rana exclaimed looking at the Devansh who refused to look at anyone anymore.

Current events taking place in his life had probably started making him feel like a failure. A failure when he was born, a failure to date.

"And an insult to our king is a direct insult to every one of us"

The soldier said with great determination in his eyes.

Rana nodded hiding away the tiny smile that was about to showcase itself on his wrinkled face.
