Two and a half months later...

"Zack, you can do it," Lucan said in a hushed voice, holding his mate's hand.

Zack lay sweating on the bed, waiting for the next wave of pain. Zack's skin and hair glowed and more glass objects shattered. "Hell. Now I understand why women begin to hate their men. I, holy shit," he screamed, tensing up. Then he gasped again, a deceptive pause. The glow of his skin diminished, but didn't disappear completely.

"You're about to push it again," the healer said calmly, while Zack squeezed Lucan's hand so hard that he was sure that no bone stayed intact.

"You can do it, Nyiam," Lucan said desperately, for there was nothing he could do. He could only stand next to his lover and encourage him. Hell, I'd rip my leg out if I could take the pain off him.

His mate looked at him. His brown hair stuck to his forehead and exhaustion was in his eyes.

"Ok, one last time," the healer said as the next wave started.

Zack screamed and pressed, then all of a sudden the incredible pressure eased. A few moments later, they heard a faint scream. That was the most beautiful moment in Zack and Lucan's life. The baby was briefly washed and then placed on Zack's chest, where he calmed down as soon as he heard his heartbeat.

"Oh God, I swore not to cry," Zack said as tears flowed, but Lucan couldn't help but hold it back either. When he felt their daughter connect with Zack's magic cycle, there was no stopping him.

"If... youu... anyone... cry... kill...," Zack sobbed and Lucan couldn't help but kiss his enchanting mate.

When the baby had enough to drink, Zack carefully sat up and took her in his arms. Now both parents were able to see their little one for the first time. Two different colored, beautiful eyes looked at them – one blue, the other yellow, like Lucan, only upside down. She had no hair, but that was yet to come.

At that moment, Zack knew and was infinitely relieved. "She's a Mazoku demon, Yalo, isn't she?" he asked his mate.

She looked at the two of them and began to smile, then her skin began to glow. The glow faded as quickly as it had come. Now there was no longer any doubt.

"Yes, Nyiam, she's half Deva, half Mazoku demon," Lucan said, gently stroking her head. Her little hand grabbed Lucan's index finger and shoved it into her little mouth. Hell, I'm going to be the biggest wimp of this sphere, Lucan thought, still couldn't believe his luck. "What should she be called?" he asked his mate.

He just grinned and told his beloved what he wanted. Lucan immediately agreed.

When Zack had done all the follow-up examinations and fresh bedding had been exchanged for the old one, they were ready to receive their friends.

Lucan had sent ravens when Zack had gone into labor. It was a tradition that the guests waited outside the door until the mother had made it. There was a specific reason, if something happened to the mother, if there were enough blood donors and if something worse happened, the poor father could be kept at bay. It sounded cruel, but it didn't help if an uncontrolled demon killed all the employees in a rage.

First came Belial with Sai. Since he was Zack's brother-in-law, he had the right to visit him first. Hettia, Astaroth, Lyric and Nix followed. They congratulated the two with warm hugs.

"And what name will your little sunshine get?" Hettia asked with a sparkle in his eyes.

Hettia had been Lucan's best friend for centuries, not just his deputy. He was the only one Lucan had let get close to him after Troy's death.
