it has been 6 whole months since me and my grandfather made up

now we see each other at least once a week

last week I turned 20 years old

I know, me, 20!

I'm super mature now

well not really, nothings actually changed

Franco's birthday was a couple of months ago and he turned 31

neither of us really wanted to do much for our birthdays so we just went for dinner with our families and friends and then ate a bunch of cake

"Baby would you pass me the hammer"

"what are we building?" I hand him the hammer

we're sat on the grass in the garden while Franco constructs something

"I-" he looks at me pointedly "-am making a footstool with a matching side table"

"Hey, I'm helping" I cross my arms as I scowl at him

"Oh yeah, you are such a big help little one" he chuckles

"I know"

I hear my phone ringing from inside and mess up Franco's hair before running to answer it

"Hello?"

"Hello, is this Angelica Monroe?" a man's voice asks

"Yes that's me, can I help you?"

"I'm calling to inform you of the will reading of Daniel Roserick on Sunday the 16th of June"

"I'm sorry, who?" I tilt my head as I talk

"Your grandfather"

My breath catches for a second before I clear my throat and speak shakily "Oh, okay. Thank you, I'll be there"

"Perfect, you will be emailed with the details"

"Thank you" I whisper before hanging up

I set my phone down and wipe my sweaty hands on my shorts before Franco's voice startles me

"Sweetheart?"

I spin around with a slight jump

"Are you okay baby?" he furrows his eyebrows as he looks over my pale face

"Mhm" I nod

"Angelica"

"I'm fine I just want to um- take a shower" my voice wabbles

"Angelica, baby, it's okay. Look at me" he crouched in front of me with a soft smile

"Can you tell me what's wrong please?"

"Um- my mom's dad died and I have to go for the will reading but the will was the whole reason I nearly died and now I'm stressed because I don't know what I'll do if I was left anything and I can't stop thinking about what happened and I was so scared and what if something happens again and I'll have to be in a room with a whole family I have never met and they might get angry at me," I say quickly in one breath as tears collect in my eyes and start rolling down my cheeks

"It's okay, it's okay" Franco whispers as he pulls my body to his

"You're scared of being in a room with the people closest to those who hurt you?"

I nod

"And you don't know what you'd do with the money you may inherit because the money is the reason your cousins did what they did?"
