"I don't know whats more depressing, you or the weather?" The sarcastic words of Daisy startled Joanne. The short brunette stuck her head into her friend's office. "Should you not be all happy and excited?"

"Why?"

Joannes response was all she needed and Daisy sat herself on the couch in Joannes office. She carefully placed her feet on the coffee table. Her yellow striped socks contrasted hard with her outfit. Blouse and suit trousers, her dark brown hair in a tight bun and as always the little daisy necklace, she always played with when she got nervous.

Joanne gracefully watched her, now at least she knew whose socks she's been wearing.

"Why should I be all sunshine and butterflies coming out of my ass?" Joanne has not moved an inch.

"Because you were so happy about going to Monaco and since your therapist appointment you have this, how would Lina call it", Daisy paused for a second, "sad aura. You have a sad aura around you!"

"According to her, I have had a sad aura for weeks." Joanne calmly shrugged then moved around her desk and sat next to Daisy on the couch.

The smaller brunette laid her arm around Joanne and gave her a soft kiss on her head.

They were inseparable since law school. The day Joanne drunkly picked up the even more drunk  Daisy, who was laying in front of her room. It was the first big party at their time at Harvard and Daisy got so wasted, the only thing she remembered was the next day, when she woke up and got hungover-breakfast by an even more hungover Joanne.

This was the beginning of a truly remarkable friendship, for Joanne even more of a sisterhood. Due to her background and financial status they were able to fastly get their own firm running, and their goal was very clear.

"I think I am making a mistake by going." "Then don't go, Kenny!" "I know but", Joanne sighted again, "somehow I want to. Already chewed that with my therapist."

"Everything is going to be right. You just have to trust your gut", Daisy softly stroked through her best friends hair, "everything, you hear me?"

The second her feet hit the ground on the airport in Nice her mood improved instantly. Toto didn't let himself get carried away and actually organized everything. Her yellow duffle bag was handed to her driver and someone already was holding the door of the white mercedes open.

"Merci." Her French was truly awful at this point, why would they not meet in a Spanish-speeking country.

The beautiful landscape passed her by and every time she saw the sea, her heart leapt a little. The excitement definitely took over at this point.

A message popped up.

Toto I hope your arrival was pleasant. I'll meet you at the hotel at 7pm

Oh she could not wait.

The midday sun was burning hot on Monaco when they arrived. The streets were a hive of activity and Joanne paused briefly to take in the beauty of the city. Although the city no longer had the same effect as the first time she was here, she always enjoyed coming to the south of France.

She looked around the room briefly before opening the beautiful French casement windows and leaning outwards. The view was breathtaking and she could see the casino and more.

With a cigarette in one hand and her mobile in the other  she was now standing there enjoying the sun, taking in every moment because tomorrow at this time she would back in depressing grey New York.

After a while she spread out her whole bag on the bed, sorting her outfits. Her girls helped her pick a few things back in the apartment but now she had the final choice to make.

To make her choice easier she put on some music and opening herself the first bottle of wine provided for her in the mini fridge. The first pour of red wine tasted like heaven at she started to loose up a bit.

She grabbed the glas by the handle and stepped in the shower. The burning hot water got her back into reality quick. "Fuck", she mumbled then took another sip, as she heard her time going off.

It is 6:30 pm and she was still singing in the shower, dancing and drinking wine. Not at all ready to meet for dinner in half an hour.

She quickly poured the last sip into her glass and jumped out of the shower. Joanne left a wet trail in the room so that it was easy to follow her back and forth and then back again.

In the end, she opted for the classic little black dress. The wet blonde hair stuck to her face and back, making it difficult to get dressed. Make-up, she still had to put on make-up.

She didn't dare look at a watch again and she already felt a bit lightheaded, why did she open that bottle for herself?

Perhaps that was also what saved her situation, because just as there was a knock on her door, she drew the last line with her lipstick.

Gracefully she opened the door, with already a little smirk on her lips.

"Hello Mr. Wolff, you are right on time." It took him a second to respond, because his gaze was completely focused on the graceful young woman in front of him.

Her short black strapless dress hugged her body perfectly and revealed more of her tattoos. She wore her long blonde hair loose and her red lipstick competed with her piercing green eyes for attention on her face.

"Just let me grab my purse and coat and I am good to go." She started to talk again, because he did not.

He cleared his throat briefly. "Of course Miss Kennedy. I'm still very pleased that you accepted my invitation."

She watched him standing in the doorway, looking a bit amused at the chaotic hotel room. "Do not dare to say a thing, Mr Wolff", she gave off amused as she dropped her coat over her shoulders as she stepped outside.

His eyes followed her every single movement mesmerized. "I would never. I hope you are hungry, I booked us a table at my favorite restaurant here."

Her eyes met his now fully. "I am starving."
