Cut to an outside view of the room's balcony and moving forward through the glass door to show River already wearing her leggings and putting on her party dress with Stace's help, who ties it on her back.
Stace
Alright, your dress is fastened.
Stace smiles, patting her now fastened back.
River
Thanks.
River swipes down her dress with her hands.
Stace
Sit down and I'll get your shoes on.
River
Okay.
Sitting, she watches as Stace slides her fine shoes on her feet and then ties them neatly.
Stace stands up afterwards and wipes her forehead.
Stace
There! You're all set.
River stands as well, comfy in her attire.
River
Wow, thanks.
She looks down at her dress and such.
Stace
The party will be here soon.
River
Yeah, I know.
River looks at her.
Stace
(Curious)
So... Are you okay? You know, with going to the party?
River
I'm nervous... But there's no avoiding it.
Stace
Yeah, that's true, I guess.
Stace smiles.
Stace
I wish I could go with you.
River
Yeah. That's a nice thought.
River gets another idea, her eyes widening.
River
(Excited)
But what if you did?!
Stace
(Unsure)
Huh? But us "common folk" aren't expected. This is a high profile gathering to celebrate the birthday of the esteemed princess. I'd get looks if I went.
Stace glances off and rubs her neck.
Stace
Besides, I don't even have a fancy dress in the first place.
River
Then wear one of mine! We're about the same size!
She grabs both of Stace's hands.
Stace
Are... Are you sure? I can't help but feel like I'm being dragged along in one of your schemes again.
River
But this time you won't be at risk of getting in trouble! I mean, I read the invite, and there's no rule stating someone not of the "upper crust" can't attend. It only requests you dress nicely and behave appropriately at the event.
Stace
I guess. But still, won't people look at me weird? Even if I do wear one of your dresses, I'd still stick like a sore thumb, I think.
Stace rubs her left arm uncomfortably.
River
Let 'em! I'll knock 'em out!
River imitates a punch and fighting stance while smirking.
River
I'll show them what for! They don't mess with a friend of mine!
Stace
(Laughs)
Thanks. Okay then... Let's do it!
Stace smiles, her mood uplifted by River.
Camera shows them hug one another and then River taking Stace behind the partition.
