Camera cuts to River's bedroom, where River lies asleep. Overnight, news broke to the rest of the kingdom that the king had passed unexpectedly.
The door opens and with the camera following the person's shoe-covered feet to the bed, their hand is shown shaking River's shoulder.
(It's Stace, but do not show her face until it's revealed by River seeing her.)
Stace
(Quiet)
Hey, get up sleepyhead.
She shakes River again.
Stace
It's time to get up.
With this, River's eyes open slowly as she looks up and sees Stace standing over her.
River
(Shocked)
Ah!
River jolts up and flings the cover off of her shoulders.
River
(Surprise with a bit of excitement)
Stace! W-What are you doing here...?!
Stace
(Surprised)
Wow, uh...
She hadn't expected an excited reaction from River seeing her after what happened the other day.
Stace
Yeah, it's me. I... I heard about your father.
River
(Steadily grows more emotional)
Oh... Yeah, he- last night, he-
Stace can see River's face contort into one of sorrow.
River
(Crying)
I just don't get why he had to die! He was doing fine before!
She buries her face into her hands.
Stace kneels in front of her and grabs her knees, looking at her.
Stace
I'm sorry... I-I shouldn't have brought it up. And... I'm sorry for what happened between us.
River moves her hands out from in front of her face and looks down at Stace.
River
(Crying)
I-I'm sorry too!
She grabs Stace's arms and pulls her up to herself, hugging her.
The two girls hug in a friendly embrace.
Stace
I want to be friends again... We shouldn't have ever broken things off.
River buries her teary face into Stace's shoulder.
River
(Crying)
I'm sorry for calling you a peasant... I'm sorry for everything!
Stace pats her back.
Stace
(Comforting)
I know... I know...
