The old mansion loomed before them, its towering spires and turrets reaching towards the moon like skeletal fingers. Emily shivered, despite the warmth of the summer evening. She had always been drawn to the supernatural and the unknown, and Shadow House was the ultimate enigma.

"Come on, Em, it's just a house," Matt said, nudging her forward. "Let's go explore."

Emily hesitated, her eyes fixed on the mansion's facade. The windows were boarded up, and the door hung crookedly on its hinges, as if it had been forced open by some unseen hand.

"Guys, I don't know if this is a good idea," Sarah said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've heard some pretty creepy stories about this place."

"Ah, come on, Sarah, it's just small-town legend," Jake said, rolling his eyes. "It's not like we're going to find any ghosts or anything."

But as they stepped inside, the creaking of the old wooden floorboards seemed to echo through the deserted halls like a warning. Emily felt a shiver run down her spine. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all...
