I woke up to an empty house yet again. I had no idea where My mom and Roman went but I was glad that they were gone. I didn't have to see them suck face all day. I was starving but I knew looking through the fridge and cabinets would be futile. I took a quick shower, threw on some clothes and grabbed a wad of cash out my coat pocket.
When I walked out the front door the sun beamed down on me but there was a cool breeze out that made me feel better. I walked down a few blocks into some grocery store called Mighty Mart. I grabbed one of their red shopping carts and walked down the dairy aisle. As I looked for a jug of milk I heard a familiar voice. I turned around to see Scottie with who I assumed to be his little sister. She was chasing after him as he grabbed a pack of cheese.
"ooh Scottie, ain't that the girl you like," she said as she pointed to me. I blushed as he turned around and looked surprised to see me. He pushed his cart over to my direction and stood in front of me with his little sister next to him.
"Hey Summer, I never thought I'd be seeing you here," he said smiling from ear to ear.
"Yeah, I just came to pick up a few things," I said, he doesn't need to know how much I'm starving and that's the only reason I'm here.
"Oh well can you hang out later on?" he asked and I thought about it.
"I don't know, I gotta hurry up and get my stuff to the house,"
"I'll drop you off there, that's the least I can do, I'd hate to have to see you walk with a bunch of groceries in your hand,"
"Well thanks," I said and I looked down at his little sister.
"Hey Kenya,"
"Hi!" she said with a huge smile on her face.
"You are so adorable," I said as I dropped down to her level and pecked her on the cheek.
"Well Imma get the rest of my stuff I'll meet y'all at the counter," I said and he nodded his head and continued shopping.
I continued shopping and ended up getting milk, packs of cheese, eggs, sandwich meat and 2 loaves of bread. I went to the register and paid for my things. I grabbed my bags and walked outside. Scottie and Kenya were standing in front of his car waiting for me.
"Here lemme help," he said taking my bags and put it in the trunk of his car.
I put Kenya in her booster seat, then I got in my own seat and buckled up. Soon Scottie got in the car and sped off.
"My house is right down there," I said pointing. I was kind of ashamed because the house looked run down from the outside. He pulled up in my yard and I immediately got out.
"You wanna come in?" I asked him and he nodded his head. He grabbed my bags for me and I grabbed Kenya and helped her up my steps.
When we walked in he placed the groceries down on the counter of the kitchen.
"Oh, um you guys can come upstairs," I said not used to being in this part of my house and it made me very uncomfortable.
We walked upstairs and I led them into my room. I sat Kenya down on my bed and gave her some of my old bears to play with. Scottie and I sat Indian style on the floor. Things were very quiet and I kind of hated that. Quiet makes me think, if Scottie wasn't in here I'd sip some of the Johnnie Walker and relax but I don't want to give him a bad impression of me.
"Your room is very pretty," He said.
"Thanks," I said looking down.
"Why do you always do that?" he asked.
